Many people get into lucid dreaming, the way you got. First of, they don't really realize the things they can do in dreams, but later they check out stuff like "Aware I am dreaming" in a search engine, and they find the word "lucid".

I heard about lucid dreaming, when I was reading some science magazine. I've always had the idea, that controlling dreams should be possible, though I never thought I'd be able to do anything I want. However, I didn't really find it that interesting, and the science magazine didn't really promote it as something you'd like to put any effort into. Even though, I decided that by the next summervacation, I would try to learn this abillity, and yeah, here I am
