Hello everyone,
I must say, I am surprised that there is a technical name for it. One of my friends said that they were able to control their dreams and I just thought.. bullshit, whatever- Because he was a pothead. I have always had dreams I've savored and have been longing for. Every night I wish that I had this one dream or continued this one dream. Now I am able to control them? As soon as I heard about this phenomenon I researched it and so far this sight nails everything. Very well structured and I learned so much. I have been trying to attempt it for 4 days now and I haven't had much luck. I guess I have to stop being lazy and start my own dream journal. Anyways, I am more than happy that there are forums for Lucid Dreaming. This way I can interact with many of you experienced "lucid dreamers" and get some tips.

I am 17 years old and I wish to continue this journey.

Welcome to the forum, Koppa. You've definitely come to the right place to learn more about LDing. I'm glad you decided to register. There is so much information available to you on the site and forum. Have a look at the tutorials, if you haven't already. It's an excellent place to start.

Just keep at it. It takes most people longer than 4 days to see any real results -- I'd say average is 1-3 weeks of really working at it. And yes, by all means start that dream journal. I know it can be a hassle, especially for us lazy types , but it is well worth the effort!

Hello comrade, welcome, blah blah. Don't get discouraged- it took me months and bloody months of work to get my first LD. I must say, you get a great feeling when you get your first one.

Don't give up hope, it could happen tomorrow, mine happened in 5 days, so you can start early. Actually, I don't feel so bad now, I was getting discouraged.

Can you guys tell me, how frequent are your dreams? I had my first lucid (so awesome I still remember it like I just woke up from it) and was pretty chuffed, so the next night I thought "Ok, you've got the technique right, now its Lucid City!". So what happens? Nothing. NO DREAMS. What a let down.

I am from South Africa

Well after a brief jaunt over to google to learn the meaning of the word chuffed(haha...I figured it meant psyched or something, close as it is defined as "very pleased") here I am to post. How frequent do I dream? Eh I suppose about as frequent as everyone else. How often do I recall it? I've been keeping a dream journal for two weeks now... its quite sporadic. Usually 1-2 a night... up to 4 and some fragments. How often do I lucid dream... well in the two weeks I've been trying I've had 4... so that averages to two a week... I had my first lucid dream after 5 days of trying _really_ hard. It was damn near the only thing on my mind and I preformed more reality checks than I can remember(Still do... heh). Also of note is my above average dream recall. Even before I started trying to boost it I remembered something pretty much every night. So that definitely helps out.

The single best piece of advice I can offer ANYONE is "Do NOT give up!". If you are like me, you want it, and you want it NOW... heh thats fine I suppose, it facilitates dedication... just don't get frustrated. Set your mind to it... you WILL do it.

Wow... it took me months before I started having them. Lucky.

What techniques are you currently using Koppa? If you need any help just ask for it here or PM a dreamguide. Good luck!

When you start using a technique, bear in mind that it might take a couple of weeks to 'train' your brain to do what you're trying to do...also, then you might have one or two lucids, and no more for a long time. That can be disheartening to some people, but it doesn't need to be. I find personally that life gets in the way of lucid dreaming sometimes.
Also, i highly recommend beginning a dream journal. This site has an excellent feature for that...
It will help you to spot your dreamsigns.
and btw, if you have any questions, feel free to PM us dreamguides, its what we're here for...

Pretty funny how everyone reacts when you tell them about Lucid Dreaming.

Really does live up to the hype though.

Welcome to the site, by the way.

Well I must say
Thank you all for welcoming me. The only thing I've tried was to go to bed and say "I will go to sleep and know I'm dreaming". That's it. Sad but, I'm trying to get there. I still have not started a dream journal as there are many distractions in my life. Also as I'm writing this I'm having trouble sleeping, its 2 AM here. Someone mentioned a cool function for starting a journal here on the forums. If you could help and direct me, that would be outstanding.

Again, thank you all.

It took me several months before my first lucid dream from trying, but two weeks after joining this site.

I've never gotten the reaction you guys are talking about from people when I talk about it, but then again I don't flat out say, 'I can control my dreams" I say like, "You guys ever had a dream where you realized you were dreaming?" and go on from there.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

As for the "cool function", here you go: Dream Journal Forum
I don't know much about it as I write my dream journal by hand, and I'm not sure if it supports private entries again yet. But there you go.
