Hey all, nice site here so I decided I would sign up as this (lucid) dreaming stuff really interests me. A big, busy forum is what I like. I'm 18 and have been interested in psychology for along time.

My first Lucid Dream I had was when I was quite young and what I remember was that I was on this field and we were play fighting and I remember I had this ability to kick my legs (they would strech) really far... It was around the time Street Fighter was out and that Dalsim character could strech his limbs. I don't remember much about this but it has stuck in my mind for along time.

A later one was the ability to do the "FREEZE" thing from Mortal Kombat that Sub-Zero does. I've just noticed they're both game related and I do play a lot of games. It was an amazing dream though because reality was extremely real and it was just awesome. I remember I feeling euphoric running around (school) in the playground shouting "I'm dreaming", I knew there was no point but it was funny. I'm not sure if this was the same night or what but I accidently did the thing that Raiden does on MK when he flys forwards really fast horizontally, that's when I realised.

I was going to mention my immensly euphoric dream here but I'm not sure its the right place, I will paste it in my journal. Instead I'll just ask my questions...

      1) What I want to know is... Have any of you actually changed your behaviour in real life because of a dream?
Like becoming more confident in real life, or anything like that...

      2) A more personal question (anyones interpretation). Why do my dreams all seem to have people from high school in them?
I don't really care about most of the people I knew in highschool so I'm not sure why I still dream about them...

I appreciate you taking the time to read, respond and answer these questions.

      Hi and welcome to DV

      1) I havn't really been lucid enough so do anything that would change my emotions, like become more confident.

      2) Dreaming is your mind's way of sorting out thoughts and memories, as high school is a big part of most people's lives, your mind will make dreams about it.

Check out the tutorial section for help and good luck

      Hey Chris,

My name's Rob. I'm new here too so I'm just running around the Newbie section posting like crazy. Your questions were REALLY good! I have had many lucid dreams and I still can't figure out exactly why so many of them have high school characters! It seems that every third night I dream of them, in particular a bully character from year five to year ten, although he is hardly ever a bully in my dreams. There are three or so other regulars.

"High School Characters" was actually my first "dream trigger" to let me know I was dreaming. Other triggers have since become more prominent and I rarely realise I'm dreaming with these highschool characters anymore. I think I might re-invest some more energy in dealing with them and become lucid so I can just straight up ask them (him in particular) why they feature so heavily in my dreams. This is easier said than done as it takes a lot of very clear awareness... but you've inspired me!

As to whether Lucid Dreaming has changed my Waking Life... abso-freaking-lutely! I have had chronic pain for over three years in most of body so I had to stop work and just about stop life. Then I remembered my old passion from my teenage years- Lucid Dreaming- and put what little energy I had left into achieving it again. When I did (achieve lucidity), I was rapt with joy, I had direction! And what divine, spiritual and dynamic direction it is! There is always more to learn and experience in your dream world, and it is quite arduous and difficult work, which in turn is the most rewarding (at least in my life time).

I have not even gotten to the stage where I have consciously decided to try and heal myself in the dream, even though this is foremost on my mind in waking life (that's why the "open heart surgery task" really intrigues me)... that's how awesome it is. Far better than any anti-depressant, illegal drug or sleeping pill available in this physical existence!

      Nice to meet you.

      Dae,

      Rob.

Hey Chris Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find a great community here.

I also have dreams including people from my high school. I guess it was a happy time in my life that I like to relive - which is funny because most people hated highschool. But those people are definitely one of my dreamsigns, so I almost always become lucid once I see them.

Anyway, have a great night and see you around the forum.

      Great responses guys.

You guys just make it click in my mind, I have been thinking of what to use as a dream trigger and I never thought of using people from highschool as a trigger. THANK YOU!

Thanks for mentioning that I inspired you Rob, nobody's really said that to me before

Well I've been thinking and I have heard that you can overcome fears in your dreams and a fear I have is approaching women. I don't think the rejection is what I fear, it's just the unknown. But the last dream I had (in dream journal and translation) was so great I felt as if I was under some magic spell and could do anything. It was a semi-lucid dream but damn it was a great one

Please keep the responses coming... Looks like this will be my new active forum
