Fully, I'm with both Tweak and Twoshadows... doing a reality check in a dream is a huge deal and two weeks of trying is a very short time indeed. I am almost reluctant to tell you how long it took me; you may have been able to withstand a blow like 8 months, but how about 8 years?! Now-a-nights though there is a lot more awareness and resources (like this awesome site) that can speed up the process, but it is a process- everything happens at the right time, even when it sems like it isn't- I'm pretty sure of this.
If you haven't already, watch, "Waking Life" (I had my first the night I watched that movie! It's my fav), "What the Bleep do We Know," and chuck in some "Matrix" action (if you are one of the few that hasn't already) and then check out some "Anamatrix" action... there's a scene in that movie that is so much like a lucid dream it's not funny, it's beautiful.
Good luck. Oh, and dream journaling is pretty much key.
Dae,
Rob.
P.S. Your 'ego' might not think it is talented, or it may know that it is because it keeps you down thinking you're not. YOU are a spiritual being having a human experience, not the other way around... and it takes a lot of "talent" to incarnate in aphysical form... be assured, you have a great purpose here on Earth, in this life. One of the greatest things (in my opinion) about Lucid Dreaming is that you have the opportunity to find out more about this "purpose"... ask and you shall recieve.
