Does anyone know why it is rare to use a computer in a dream? I use a computer for several hours each day, but I have never had a dream in which I was using one. My dreams seem to always involve social interaction or actual physical movement even if I hadn't done either during the waking portion of my day.

Why is this? I have read that when you are in the REM phase the analytical part of your mind is less active, would this be why most things I do in dreams don't typically involve much logic or thought (ex I'm never in a situation where I have to solve some complex problem, but more ofen in a situation where I have to use physical exertion to escape from a problem).

      Anyone else experience this?

I have used a computer in my dream once but the weird part was that the computer was nothing like one while you're awake. But everything works as you would expect with a computer.

I'm not sure how to explain it. The computer did everything a computer does just not in a computer like fashion.

I had a dream on the computer once... it was kinda wierd because I had tunnel vision and could only see a portion of the screen at a time, I don't remember that being much of a problem though.

There's a rational explanation. Sure, we dream often of what we do much of the day, however, when we sit at the PC, we don't focus on the concept of the PC but rather what we're doing at it (watching a movie - on the screen, reading a forum - on the screen, etc.).

I've had dreams where I was browsing forums or even chatting in IRC for a small amount of time but the PC was never really present. I was just witnessing what was going on on the screen.

I play computer games in my dreams. Mainly World of Warcraft and Civisilation. Havn't had any dreams about Tetris yet though.

It's really odd cause mechanical things tend not to work. You need to be so familiar with what you are using your computer for that it becomes as second nature as walking. Then your brain can recognise it and duplicate it. At least that's what my theory is.

I remember the other night I had a dream with a computer, I forget what I was doing but I logged off and there was like, 6 more user accounts than usual. Then I tried to turn it off, but it kept turning itself back on. Typically when I dream about computers or TVs I dream I turn them off, but they keep turning themselves back on.

When I was little I had a dream that our computer attacked me.

There would be times that I would dream of being on my DV account. LOL. It was like I was the computer screen itself, instead of a seperate entity. It was pretty neat.

Now that you say that, I honestly cannot remember a dream I've had with a computer in it. I've played video games in dreams, not that often though. Usually when I have dreams about games, I'm in the game.

Computers in dreams, that's a strange thing to think about.

I dreamt once that I was using my PC but without the screen, only the keyboard floating in the air and not connected to anything. It worked but in a strange manner though. It was like programming my own reality or surroundings. It was actually up to me what's goona to happen next around me.
      I'm tired being sorry.

I had a dream about a game I was playing once or twice. wierd

I wonder, do you think it is because electricity dosn't tend to work in dreams?

In dreams everything does work. It's a matter of time.

I had a dream just last night where I was using my computer, though strangely I wasn't at my house. Anyway, I booted up Linux (I have both Windows and Linux) and found that it was really more of a cross between windows/linux. Like, there was a bar on the top and bottom of the screen (Linux), but there was a start button (windows).

Anyway, I never saw the computer though. I mean, the screen was clear and though I used it easily there didn't seem to be a mouse or keyboard. It was weird. Oh, and thinking back the text didn't make sense half the time but I was still able to understand it.

Weirdest, though, was that there were random viruses and at one point I basically said "Oh, what the heck. The real computer's fine." That's when I woke up, lol!

Anyway, the computers seem to work fine. They're just... different.

I just had a dream about my computer the other day...I took a nap in the middle of the day and in my dream I was checking an e-mail I had sent out a short while earlier. All the address were wrong though. Instead of to Jesu it was Jese and on and on for every name one letter was wrong. I think this was because someone said they didn't receive the message. So when I double check in my dream my worst thoughts were confirmed.
