I,m new to the site. i,m 41 and from scotland. I first heard about lucid dreaming about 10 years ago and was interested instantly. I started to read books about it and started a dream journal. I got the book by stephen laberge along with the lucid dreaming course and a nova dreamer sleep mask. for those that dont know, a nova dreamer is a sleep mask which you wear when you are going to sleep, it detects when you go into R.E.M and flashess a led into your closed eyes which in theory should incorporate the light into a strange effect in your dream, so you will notice what it is and realise your dreaming. I did notice it in my dreams but I always woke up before I realised what it was. I got fed up trying and the mask got annoying so I put it away. after about a week of just recording my dreams as normal I had my first lucid dream. I always carry a digital watch with me and anytime anything unusual happens I do a reality check by looking at the watch. In a dream I was standing in a building site and was sinking into a vat of cement, I was trying to grab onto the sides which keep falling away, I saw my watch and the time had changed to hierogliphics and suddenly I just let myself fall into the cement as I shut my eyes. when I opened them I was standing outside the building site. I didn,t need to check I knew I was dreaming. i looked about and was amazed at the reality of the dream. I was standing in a norml city street but above and behind the house were giant palm type trees as if we were in the middle of the jungle or a rainforest. I said to someone who was with me "i,m going to fly" i took a few steps and jumped into the air, and fell straight onto the ground. my friend laughed. I stood and steadied myself, put one hand forward like superman does and jumped. I flew into the air at supersonic speed, throught the clouds and out into space. I intended to go to the edge of the earth and view it like from the space shuttle, but I was to busy looking around and then at my arms as I could see and feel my shirt rippling with the speed. I flew on and then I seemed to be going to fast as every thing was flashing past me, planets and solar systems and I just got to overwhelmed and woke up. I also woke the wife up by shouting, "i,ve done it, i,ve done it". I was up and writing every detail down straightaway.

Im sure you know a bit about techniques to becoming lucid, and also ones to do during your waking life to help improve your lucid state, but ill give you a few helpful links anyway.
