Dream Sharing - How unreal would that be?

Yo, I saw a thread on the Lucid Experiences where somebody said they felt like they were in someone elses dream. Lucid - but just not able to do anything. Then a bit further down - someone wrote that he has SHARED dreams with his brother. Now what the?!?! I am not sure why anybody didnt pick up on the thread a bit more, but if someone managed to share a dream with someone else who was also asleep - isnt that a bit freaky! Myself and a mate, (my mate doesnt LD very often, although he has done and loves it) have often talked about the possibilty of meeting in a dream. Has anybody ever heard of this? Sounds impossible but nothing is impossible. Thoughts?

Me and my friend were thinking about that too, it seems possible, but i think you both have to be pretty good at slipping in and out of lucidity before you can do that.

      Hello Bassaddict,

That previous thread you've read about the dream sharing and the individual sharing dreams with her brother. That would be I who posted that. Yup it's true, I can do it but he doesn't have the same ability. It's pretty common place now because I've been doing it for so long.

Switch, do you think it is something that can be taught to others?

It's on my 5 things to go list. =)

I adopted her. Her brother adopted me.

You see. I trust both of them...and if they say they can do it...it can be done.

Switch where did you go? You asked me to log on so here I am where the HELL ARE YOU?

Im not sure if it can be taught. I've been asking her for years what is it that she does, and she says most of the times when she hacked my dreams it was usually when she was really worried about me. I don't think she has as much control over it as she thinks. Not being mean but I think its something that happens with her spuractically</spel.

Shadow...by the way...i have a message from her.
STOP PRESSING HER! You're making her try to hard, darnit!

Well...that said...it cannot be taught, it has to be learned by yourself, and i think that you can only 'hack' the dreams of ones you love, or are close to (personal hypothosis)

Whether you have control while sharing dreams or not, its the fact it can be done and you can repeat whats happened inside someone elses head that is amazing! I read the link in Memorable topics about "The Scientist who went to lunch" - and that freaky shadow seems....well... freaky...! I swear I must be gullable!

Yup thats what they call me SUPER-FREAK!!! j/k. One thing that I've picked up is that usually when my sister accidently hacks my dreams, she's usually slow to realization, the only reason why I know she does it when it occurs is because its the exact same scenerio everytime. And alot of times it can be a Lucid Sign. For instance Im dreaming and lets just say Im not Lucid at the time. The scene changes everything turns Pitch black and its like Im in the Middle of some kind of Void, Then in the blink of an eye the picture kind comes back almost instantly. Then it hits me at that point and if I wasn't Lucid at that time I am now. The setting has always been the exact same for years. It's always this huge grassland type area with Large Mountains as the backdrop. Some of the times she's right there in the same vacinity and I have to induce her Lucidity. See there has only been one time when Switch hacked my dream while Lucid. So I usually have to go over to her and tell her "you're in my dream again" Im serious its as simple as that. If I didn't tell her she wouldn't come out of natural dreaming and would just go with the flow. Now I've mentioned times when I knew she hacked my dream and how the setting relates back to the same picture. Sometimes I cannot find her, and I know shes out there, I've went looking for what seemed like days before. So as far as I can see she may have shared dreams with me more than either one of us realized.

I wish I could Seeker, because you are so nice and so kind you would be the first person that I would pass this gift on to. I've been trying to teach my brother and tell him that it happens because of intense feelings deep inside but he doesn't feel much of anything for anybody. I think the key to this event is deep inside each and everyone of us. It's just a matter of searching within oneself to awaken this ability which I feel we all have deep inside. I think your feelings and your love for those near and dear to you is the sensitive self-expression state of dream-sharing between two individuals. Maybe if when my brother has time for me again then we can try to explore more. It's just so hard to do manually sometimes. Just like he mentioned up there, lots of time it happens and Im not even aware of it. I find myself in his dream and he taps me on the shoulder and tells me that Im dreaming and then I become Lucid. Usually things become alot more clear to me also. And my senses seem to just instantly kick in, or maybe its just that Im acknowledging them at that point. I really do wish I could teach this to others but Im afraid I cannot and Im still at 18 trying to get a hold of it myself.

So how precise are these dreams that she can see into? Do you talk and when you wake up know you had the exact same conversation? Do you ever do anything together like fly or test out lucidity? VERY INTRIGUED!

Yes they are extremely precise dreams. Everytime we tell each other something in the dream and repeat it back once again upon waking. If My brother finds me in a shared dream then alot of times I just watch him do things Im never able to do anything in a shared dream with him. It's pretty much just like me not even being in a dream at all. Im bound by all laws of physics and everything. He is able to take me flying with him. But I cannot do anything on my own.

      Very interesting combination...

Switch posess the ability to link to her brother within dream

While Shadownightwing can bring lucidity to the paired dream

I agree with you Switch... its something deep inside, its not something easy to control, I still to this day cannot control it. Its very hit and miss for me and like you said, when your thoughts seem to dwell on some one it just happens, you cant exlpain how it just does.

Switch I think your binding to physical laws interesting too, when you dream alone do you experience lucidity or is it only when your brother awakens you within the dreaming.

What is it you feel when you try to do something and find you cant, like fly, while your brother can, it must be frustrating (I know)

Start small, there is no such thing as an absolute law, even science here is finging that out, you just have to beleive it yourself.

"Push the envelope, watch it bend"

Like I said though start small, try making a spark of light in your hands, If you like I can go into more detail, but for now I will go poof =D

Up until now, I had no clue that Switch was Shadow's sister....

I guess that's a good thing to know....
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
