      Hey everybody.

I've been reading the articles and tutorials on this site from time to time (best lucid dreaming related website btw&#33 and I thought I get my ass in here and post some with you other fellow lucid dreamers.

I believe I was able to lucid dream when I was like around 12 or something, I can still remember some great dreams from that time. Some very long ones. I could wake up and then go back to sleep and continue where I left off.

I read a book written by somebody called Carlos Castaneda (or something like that) where it was said that if you could watch your hands in your dream you would be able to become lucid in it. I managed to do this once (this is like 5-6 years ago) and I know that atleast that was a genuine lucid dream because I became so excited I woke up after a few seconds. I remember trying to move while I was in that state and it felt like moving through thick water. I did many more attempts but never was I again able to have a lucid dream. Ofcourse I had not practiced dream recall or anything else at that point. All I knew was that I should try to look at my hands when I was in a dream.

But ever since I've been reading up on lucid dream recently I have yet not been succesfull in having one. I have followed the steps explained on this site, and I've been able to write down up to 4 dreams per night, but I still am not able to become lucid.

A dream sign I usually have is being unable to find a location or somebody I'm looking for. I don't really know how to use this, can't really make a connection to being lost, perhaps you guys have suggestions?

I have not done the reality check practice, but since I've been unsuccesfull so far I'm going to give it a shot.

Btw, is there a way I can change my display name on these forums? I did not want my display name to be lordhh, but I thought it would be my personal username. As my display name I would like Xerion if that is available.

Anyway, glad to be here and I'm eager to read up on your experiences and adventures!

      /Xerion

Hey Xerion! Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to register!
I was going to PM Seeker and if he if can change your username for you, but I see it's already been done!

Have you tried any of ther actual induction techniques? I'd recommend trying WBTB and MILD - both of these work well for beginners.

Good luck and see you around the forum!

Awesome! Did not realize my username had been changed hehe, great!

One of my problems and probably one of the reasons I have not been able to lucid dream is that I get very lazy once I get to bed. I read about WBTB 2 days ago and so far I have not been able to get my ass out of bed after 5-6 hours. Probably because when I finally got to bed, I had around 7-8 hours to sleep so I did not want to waste any of that time.

I have tried the technique where you try to stay awake as long as possible until you fall asleep while still being concious (think thats WILD if I'm not wrong). But I find myself falling to sleep before being able to fullfill the technique heh.

It's another reason I decided to register here. I really want to start lucid dreaming, and I want to become really good at it, like being able to lucid dream at will anytime I want (perhaps my goals are a bit too high? hehe). I thought by registering here and starting to talk to other it would motivate me more to practice all techniques.

I will try WBTB tonight, in fact I will wake up after 5-6 hours and come back to this forum and post for 30-60 minutes

I just found out that you could get adopted by an experienced lucid dreamer that helps you out. It sounds like a great thing. Will look for somebody who is willing to adopt me

      Thanks for the welcome!

I'm not an expert on WILD (in fact, I've never WILDed in my life - it's just not my thing), but I believe you need 4-5 hours of sleep first, before attempting WILD. It's very rare and difficult to achieve a WILD without any sleep first.

That sounds like a great idea Also, feel free to tweak these techniques to suit you better. For me, sometimes my cats wake me up in the early morning wanting breakfast, and I'll wake up for a minute, then fall back to sleep, and I'll have a WBTB lucid dream that way too. Just try different things and see what works for you.

I've PMed about the adoption program - you need to be a member for 2 weeks to be eligible. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey man, good to have you here. Of course I'm almost new here being my year or two absence, but who's counting, right?

Your goal of having one whenever you want has been done, actually, by the writer (Stephen LaBerge) of "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming." If you do not have this book, get it. It will tell you pretty much everything you could ask.

I would adopt you but I'm not the keen expert I once was, and I have somewhat of a knack for vanishing.

      Enjoy your stay!

I ordered "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming".

Stephen LaBerge has also written "Lucid Dreaming: A Concise Guide to Awakening in Your Dreams and in Your Life".

      Is that book any good?

GestaltAlteration, you wrote the WILD and MILD tutorials right? Are you saying you're having trouble lucid dreaming as well? =/

Thanks for the book tips! I got some reading to do

Yes, because I completely stopped the practice for a long period of time. As with some skills, it must be constantly honed. I learned this the hard way.

But take heart, when you get into that "zone" it's unlike anything else.

One last thing, I believe the book you mentioned was the one he wrote before EtwoLD. I have never read it myself.

I actually own that book, and it is a good one, but EtWoLD is much better, in my opinion. It's actually meant to be an improvement on Lucid Dreaming, I believe.

Yes, i started reading that book two weeks ago, too.
Already had 3 LDs, seems like simply reading about it can induce LDs.
The Wake Back to Bed - method seems to work well for me:
