Thread: Cannot Become Lucid At Will?

Hey, so basically up to now i have had 2 lucid dreams in the last month, these are my first at for some reason i have noted 2 similarities in both of them, the way i become lucid. I'm not very sure why but for some reason I cannot become lucid through VILD or an in-dream reality check or something.

Basically both time i have become lucid the same way. I basically see all black, then I remember that I am dreaming and "Dream Spin", I'm not really sure why but I dream spin without actually seeing something. Then after a little while the dream becomes bright and there I am. Also I have noted that every time i do do an In dream reality check my watch is always forwarded about 3-4 minutes on the second look.

Does anybody have any ways for me to remember what I want to do in a Lucid Dream? Since I get them very sparingly I ALWAYS forget what I want to do so I'm a bit disappointed when i wake up. Especially since I usually have some kind of interruption(I.E. Parents woke up, had to go to the bathroom )

That is about all I have to say, also could anybody give me any tips about remembering Lucid Dreams?

EDIT: Also when I am in a dream I always forget what just happened in my dream and it leads to some odd experiences that I can't even remember when I am awake, so is there a way to increase in-dream memory?

I have the same problem with remembering dreams and prolonging them. But the answer you're going to get from everyone is to keep a dream journal and keep trying.

I've found the problem with becoming lucid is that I get so excited about the possibilities that I forget to slow down and do what I had planned. It sounds like you're having the same problem. I think the thing that helps most is to just keep going over in your head what you want to do once you become lucid so then when it happens you'll think back to that. That's what worked for me anyways.

Hmm...it's basically what DreamGuy 88 said...have you tried Dream Induction? That's where you think about one particular person, place, or event that you want to dream about.

Maybe think of one thing you'd really like to do in a lucid dream, and think about it before you go to sleep
Maybe even look at the lucid task of the month?
Even if you don't do it, it might give you some ideas...
