1. I'm going to sleep about 10:30 and going to wake up about 4am. Then keep myself up for about 30 mins. Then I'm going to go for the breathing thing and watching numbers in my head. Eyes closed I assume? Then just lay there until whatever happens?[/b]
This is WBTB, as you probably know. There are various opinions about how you should do WBTB, like how long you should stay awake. It depends on the person and on the technique you like to do. If I do WBTB and WILD, I do not stay awake for 30 mins. If I will do this, I can't fall asleep easily anymore and WILD just doesn't work for me. I've also heard other people about this fact. If they do WILD and WBTB they just stay awake for a few minutes and then try to WILD. (When I use MILD and WBTB, I usually do stay awake for 30 minutes and think and read about Lucid Dreaming)
You have to keep your eyes closed when you do the breathing thing. After all, the point is to step into a dream consiously. I can't dream with my eyes open

2. If I do start dreaming, won't I have to already be lucid so that I can make myself hold my nose or something? I mean that unless the thought that I might be dreaming occurs to me while I'm actually dreaming, I won't think to pinch myself or hold my nose, right? And if I'm aware that I'm dreaming and controlling myself to run around a dream city and what I feel like, do I tell myself "Wake up now.", or is there some strange method to this.
The point of WILD is to fall asleep consiously, to step into a dream while you are aware that you're dreaming. You don't necesairly have to do a reality check, because you already know you are dreaming.
When you're aware you are dreaming you have a lucid dream. So then you could do anything you want to do in a lucid dream. If you want ideas, I'm sure you can find them in the board "Lucid Experiences". It would be ashame to wake yourself up now. Now you managed to get a lucid dream, you want to do something in the dream too right? But if you ever do want to wake yourself up, it usually helps to close your eyes and tell yourself you want to wake up.
