Hey buddies, i've heard about Lucid Dreaming about a month ago, and googled it, came across this place. Read some experiences, and i'm seriously amazed!

I can't wait for my exams to be over, so i can practise how to lucid dream. The only thing i'm worried about is sleep paralysis and the "old hag"

If i saw her, i'd p*ss myself, and go into another lucid dream and try and beat her up! Lol.

One thing i'm confused about is the dream diary concept. I know what to do, but is it a special made dream diary i must buy or is it a plain old regular notebook?

      Peace

Welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!&#33 ; Ect Ect
If you want you can start a dream journal on this site (e.g like the one in my signature hint hint), but if your talking about one for your bedside.... well it doesnt matter, whatever is more reliable, you dont need a "special one"
Oh and the old hag....she aint all that :] like you said beat her wrinkly ass up.
Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

Welcome on board. Anything will do for a dream journal. I recommend keeping a notebook, flashlight, and pencil beside your bed. Write down just enough hints each night so that you can remember the dream in more detail and make a longer entry into your official journal. You will be suprised how much you can remember the next day with just a few hints.

Dont worry about hag and SP, as long as you know what is going on, it's a really fascinating experience.

No need to wait until then. Practice MILD. Motivation is an important part of lucid dreaming. You can do MILD without worrying about sleep loss.

      Got it.Thank you seeker!

Btw. If someone has an episode of SP and hallucinates of the hag, and if someone wakes them up, will everything go away?

Well 'The Hag' is actually an event that happens while you're awake! It happens after you wake up, or while you're falling asleep, and you'll be paralysed while it happens, but as soon as the paralysis is gone, she'll disappear! It's rare to actually see her or anything like that, so I wouldn't worry about it though!

Just don't think about it, and it won't happen.

As Seeker said, you won't have to wait until your exams are over. I was aware of lucid-dreaming for a year, before I actually researched it. I read somewhere, that you had to get up early and write your dreams down, and since I'm in school, I thought that'd be stupid. Wasted a whole year of possible lucid-dreaming right there. Think about it? Where could I've been, if I started 1.5 years ago? Oh the missery
      Oh well, I won't hi-jack your thread.
You shouldn't get too much into WILD, while you're in school. I suggest that you only try it on weekends, or whenver you can ruin 2 hours of your sleep. Once you've got it, you can start doing it on normal days. I guess.

Otherwise, what you want to do now, is just get a solid dream-recall, do reality-checks, so that you can induce DILDs (Dream Induced Lucid Dream) and you might try MILD aswell.

MILD is where you get up in the night, stay up for maybe 5 or 10 minutes and just think and read about lucid-dreaming all the time. Then you go to bed again, and think about how your next dream is gonna look.

      ---------
Lost count of how many lucid dreams I've had

If thats how a MILD works then couldnt you just imagine yourself staring at a big board saying " YOUR'E DREAMING DO A RC!" I just thought of it maybe some one could try it.

Or when you do a MILD are you already aware?

Thanks guys, sorry i haven't been here so much, i'm busy with study

I tried last night, was a bit of a failure though lol. I had a dream diary next to me all night, and as usual i woke up in the middle of the night(uncontrollable), i don't think i dreamt, for i couldn't write anything my mind went blank

But, i stayed awake for like 5 mins, reading through stuff and thinking about lucid dreaming, and tried to stay awake while my body went to sleep.

The only thing that happened to me was me keep waking up thinking "crap, i was supposed to be lucid dreaming"

Ah well, there is always tomorrow!! Or tonight *ninja face*

Ahhh, not to worry, it's often slow at the start! As soon as you wake up, just lie in that position with your eyes closed and try to recall what you were 'thinking about' a few seconds before! That will often prompt atleast the slightest sliver of the dream you just had! Hope this helps
