Hi,

Just wondering what technique everyone has found most effective for LDing. I've heard that WBTB followed by MILD is successful, however I've also heard that WILDing allows you to LD at will. I'm new and I've already managed to consciously go into REM, though neither times resulted in a Lucid dream. One more quick question, does everyone have dreamsigns? So far I haven't found any...

I've got to start writing down the meanings of all of these so that I can properly understand what everyone means (I get lost with the acronyms). I generally and consistently do RC's throughout the day and then end up doing them in my sleep. I also tell myself over and over as I'm falling asleep that I'll have lucid dreams. It works very well for me; I'd say I'm a LD Expert.

As for DS, I don't think I really have any in particular. Nothing that snaps me into, "HEY I'm dreaming." Although I do go through jags of having a common theme. For example while I was pregnant (in each case while I was pregnant), I dreamt of water, especially in the form of bathtubs. Currently I'm in a jag of dreaming about being in a class in a school setting, which is a change from the old dream I used to have, where I was dreaming about not being able to find my class or know anything about them. I guess I'm not really sure what constitutes as a DS... if it doesn't remind you that you're dreaming but it's something that you dream a lot but it doesn't make sense IRL, does that count?

Also, HI. And welcome; which I feel weird saying, being a newbie, too. But welcome anyway.

Hi goldney and welcome to Dv, the WBTB method with the MILD is one of the easiest combinations and are very good at getting Lucid Dreams. Where as the WILD although it usually has "LD when you want." It is very hard to do and is something I wouldn't recommend tryinf first.

Hello, for me it has to be reality checks, reality checks and reality checks. They really do work and save you the trouble of doing a MILD/WBTB/MILD etc. Though that said it's different for evey person and you shouldn't just stick to one. Each technique is an experience in itself.

Well the trouble with that is I haven't really identified any dreamsigns yet. Having said that though all my dreams have school friends in them, but I can hardly do RCs every time I see them. I suppose everyone really is different.

Well you could do a little one like counting your fingers, that way no one see's and it's easy to remember to do, because looking at your hands wo even using them should remind you.

NeAvo said it. WBTB and MILD for me were deffinetly the most important starting methods, and in order for me to WILD to this day I still have to use WBTB. Also starting a dream log can help.

What should you do if you try WBTB but can't remember the dream you had earlier in the night?

I very rarely remember dreams from before I WBTB and almost never have a lucid. For me it all starts with WBTB, after that I become aware of most of my dreams and go in and out of lucidity. I wake up frequently from lucids but I just WILD right back into a new one.
