      Thumbs up

      Hi,

I have been reading a few posts about how vivid and detailed peoples dreams are... im kinda jealous ;-P cause my dreams seem to always have this kinda blurriness to them, with this hazy light and its nowhere near as vivid as real life, does anyone else get this? I personally dont think it has anything to do with recall because when I wake from a dream and remember the image straight away its not crystal clear even then..my dreams are more like a video on youtube rather than a 62" plasma HD tv!! another thing, this is hard to explain but say I was on a street in a dream, at the time I would know there are trees around and cars parked on the side, but when i wake up with the same image in my head I wouldnt be able to draw a map of where everything was like the car and trees, so even objects arent a solid memory... does this make any sense at all?!?! are there any exercises to improve the detail of your dreams? has it got to do with recall?

in a lucid dream or normal dream?
I had the same blurry problem last night. I havent tried this yet, but i have heard of people yelling "clarity!" out loud in their dreams to make the fuzzyness go away.
I have only had one LD and the problem i remember was stuff starting to fade away. I also remember a slight haziness in my vision throughout the entire dream which i couldnt get rid of.

For me most normal dreams are kinda fuzzy. I think that's just how they are.

In a lucid dreams, everything can be crystal clear. As clear as it is in life, or even hyperrealistic. Shouting "Clarity" or "Increase lucidity!" in your dreams does help a lot.

Lucky, my normal dreams tend to be really clear, and my lucid's really crappy quality.

Erikster I was talking about my normal dream, I just assumed lucids would be the same, when I had mine it was like a normal dream but I didnt yell out clarity now or anything like that... so just to clear it up: normal dreams have that fuzziness but lucid dreams can become clear as real life if you demand it, can an experienced lucid dreamer confirm this?

My lucid dreams are generally pretty fuzzy too, but yes, that's what they say.

Another technique that's mentioned a lot is to stare at your hands, and try to see all the little details in them. After a couple of seconds they should become clearer, and with them, the rest of the dream. It also helps to try too see details as much as you can in real life as well, and they should begin to show up more in your dreams.

From reading other people's journals and comparing to mine, I definitely think that there is a spectrum of clarity both within an individual's dreams and between different people. Some people are just lucky to have great dreams. Hopefully improved recall will help you to remember the good ones that you do have. I feel like I am sort of in the middle as far as the vividness of my dreams; a lot are really muddled and indescribable, then others come back as being more vivid yet confusing, and then there are the rare, really special, extremely vivid and detailed ones. And then...even more rare lucids.

I'm not sure if you are stuck with what you have, or if it can be improved (I'm still working on it myself); I only not that practicing recall at least helps you remember the good ones.
