I'm kind of new to the message board concept, so bear with me!
Anyways, from what I understand, lucid dreaming is the fact of knowing you're dreaming, and being able to control the dreams you have? Well, I'm 16 now, and for as long as I can remember I've been able to do this, not knowing what lucid dreaming even is. I guess it occurs about 5/7 nights a week. The only thing is, I don't start the dream knowing I'm in one...something bizarre happens, and then I know I'm in a dream. My friend never has a dream she doesn't have control of, or so she says...and she can think about what she wants to dream about before falling asleep, and then dream about it that night. I'm just wondering if that concept is known as anything. Also, I'm wondering if anyone has trouble with lucid dreaming, or if it's just something everyone has the ability to do.

It's definatly not an easy thing to do for everyone. I personally have only done it 3 times, so be happy with you blessing. 5-7 times a week!? Seriously?

Welcome to Dream Views, Kyla.

Nice to have another "natural" around, as always. To answer your questions; a lucid dream is simply knowing you're dreaming. This can come with or without Dream Control, it is still a lucid dream, as long as you are aware you are dreaming.
And what your friend can do is called "Dream Incubation." I've had a few successes with it, here and there, but would like to get a little better at it.
Also, the technique you use (figuring out you're dreaming by something bizarre happening) is called a DILD (dream-initiated lucid dream), and is my best method, too.

Hope you enjoy your stay. Ask around, if you have any questions.

Question

Hi,

Well everyone has the potential to be able to Lucid Dream so that is good But most people don't know that it is possible so they don't think about it or if you tell them about it they think it is wierd or impossible.

I have been working on having Lucids for over a year and I have had 8 so not too bad Well 5-7 per week is wonderful - lucky you! My yearly total is your weekly total LOL. Yes you don't have to be in control for the dream to be Lucid - it is just the realisation that it is a dream that counts. I have had about 4 that I had some amount of control in.

Enjoy Do you put your lucid dreaming skill to any use? Do you use it for mental visualisation and practising stuff or just have loads of fun with it

Nice to read your post,

See ya,

Thanks for the replies
I didn't realize I was a natural...haha.
I basically use the dreams to have fun. Fly around, jump off of things. Talk to people would normally be afraid to talk to. I've never thought of training in a dream though. I'd love to try that, but whenever I'd like to have a lucid dream, or if I think about it too much, it normally never happens.

Hey there Kyla,

5 out of 7 a week is awesome! Haha I've only had 1 lucid dream since I joined DV, which is nearly 5 months! Granted I don't always have the time to practice the techniques, but still, it just shows how much of a natural you are

I've always been quite successful with dream incubation, although it's never really been like a conscious thing. As a child, I'd just think before hand about what I wanted to dream as I was falling asleep, and viola! Once, I was dreaming about this girl in a shopping mall, and then my mom woke me for some unkown reason. I went back to sleep thinking about the dream, and continued right where I left off, it was awesome!

I think you could use dream incubation to dream about super weird things, and that way realise that you're dreaming.

Hi Kyla

Another natural to the list, hopefully you can help some of the less experienced members. Feel free to look around and have fun!
