Alright, I usually hate negative whiney threads, where the topic creater has a negative mindset right from the start, thereby pretty much nullifying any chance of success already! I said to myself I wouldn't make a topic like that from the beginning... Well, here I am.

I'm really in need of some help here. What I'm doing now is just not working. I'm willing to try one more time, but I need to see a little success sometime this lifetime... Speaking of which, here's what I've actually been doing:

My schedule is as follows: I go to school at 9:00am monday, wednesday, and friday. On tuesday and thursday, I go at 11:30am. Every weekday, I got to work at 10:30pm till 4:00am. I've been waking up at 8:00am on weekdays, and 1:00pm on weekends. When I wake up, I try to WILD directly, as I have an extremely difficult time falling asleep in the first place. At one point I was getting SP about once a week, which is good for me, but for some reason I've had no luck since last year. I haven't remembered one dream since January; obviously I haven't gone lucid! I've been forgetting to do reality checks, but this habit will be easily re-acquired. I mostly stopped because I was getting discouraged.

I'll be honest; I've been almost reluctant to come on DV lately. Every time I do, I see all the success people are having and I get kinda discouraged. Normally, I'd bounce right back and just try a new "technique". I've PM'ed pretty much every "master" here on DV at least once, and they've all been extremely kind and helpful. So, to the point; I need success, not failiure. I know I've asked the same question a million times before, and you've all been patient with me. I want to start helping people, though, instead of being the one needing help all the time.

I don't know how much one CAN help through a forum, but please, I need something. I don't know how much longer I can stay positive with absolutely no success.

You usually get four hours of sleep? That's rough, especially when you interrupt the pattern with weekends. Some say it's the length of the sleep that counts, but that's wrong. It's all about consistency. If you can't be consistent with your sleep time, your body will be restless, always trying to adjust to a different circadian rhythm.

Also, don't stress! Stress=bad for dream recall! Relax, and gently let the suggestions set in. Don't get angry with yourself, and keep positive.

Also, read your dream journal, even if they are three-month-old dreams. This may get your mind back into that 'oh, he wants me to remember dreams again?' stage.

Not unnecessarily wrong. Actually its hardly wrong. Far from it. REM periods on occur every hour and a half roughly, and REM periods are the dreams we most remember and are the times where we most lucid dream. REM periods are crucial to LDing, and they start off very short. The first is only a few minutes. But they lengthen as the night goes on. At about 6 hours is the longest period, and the best time for LDing. The more you sleep, the more REM, thus the more LDs.

      Entirely true.
But still, without consistency, he may not even remember the dreams in the first place. In his situation, I think it'd be easier to adjust consistency more than length (unless he goes and gets a new job&#33.

get a new job or change your school hours man... sleep is SACRED. early morning, after 7-8 hours of sleep is the best time to induce LDs. And for life in general, it is a lot better if you get good sleep. I sometimes sleep upwards of 10 hours just cuz it feels nice.

start with recall. use your dj, and mild for that. just tell yourself you will remember your dreams before you go to bed and that usually helps. make sure you do your rc's again, and then start a technique. maybe try vild or wild? and always do a wbtb first. If you want to succeed with wild mess with the wbtb. It doesnt have to be after 6 hours, i do mine after 4. and change your work time. You arent getting enough sleep
      Total lucid dreams=88

Thank you for the replies. I'd definitely agree that my length of sleep is low; I always feel so tired. Guess I just gotta get my priorities straight. I've been under the mindset that I was DOING something wrong; maybe it's as simple as getting more sleep and REM. I used to have great difficulty falling asleep, but that's not really as big a problem anymore. Everybody has always told me on DV that everybody dreams every night, regardless if one remembers. Is it possible that I haven't actually been dreaming, as I haven't really slept more than 4 hours in-a-row in a long time?

I'll try changing my work and school times around, somehow. It's the one thing I really haven't tried, because honestly moving around one's work schedule is difficult.
