      LD and SP

this is my first time coming here, but recently i've been researching and whatnot, and I've always have had good dream recall, but for some reason I can't induce lucid dreams through reality checks...i've only been trying for a week, and my dream journal normally consists of me waking up and talking to one of my friends about the dream i just had. But on the other hand, there were times when I've become lucid just based on what i was doing (making objects fly around a room ect)

But I've just learned about SP and I almost feel like kicking myself for not finding out what it was earlier in life. I always thought it was the "hag" or the "devil riding your back" thing...or just my body telling me to wake the hell up. I actually tried relaxing the last time it happened...and nothing really happened...i just kinda woke up. But the day before yesterday was amazing.

I'm lying in bed and i hear everyone in the living room...(work nights so i sleep late) and I try to go back to sleep, and the SP kicks in...I relax, and it ends, and i still have my eyes closed and everything and I reach out...and I feel my hand go through something. I open my eyes and my hand is going through the wall. I get out of the bed realizing that I'm dreaming and walk through the door without opening it, and get to the living room, and try to jump...and eventually fly...but then i wake up.

Maybe i'll keep trying the reality checks thing...but so far all I've had dreams about was a work, and it's a new job..and it's all time based...so i really don't have time to check my keys that often...and ironically all of my dreams have been about that place recently. I just want to know how often should i be trying reality checks? As for SP...that normally happens to me about once a week, normally when I'm sleeping for more than 8 hours, so doing the reality check thing would help me out a lot.

Not every technique works for everyone. But you've only been doing RC's for a week, don't give up yet! I started out with them, and it took me about a month to have my first LD. You should aim for about 20, maybe 30 a day. Make it into a habit, so you'll start doing it in your dreams.

SP's are a good way to induce LD's, and you've got the idea already.

Since you have so many dreams about work, do a RC whenever you think about being there, or think about yourself being there. And you don't have to do the key RC's, there's plenty of other ones. Try breathing through your nose with your fingers pinching it shut (my favorite), poking a finger through your hand, or checking the clock to see if the time makes sense. A mix of RC's is good to do too, because if one doesn't work for you there's others you can do.

      Hope this helps!
