Hello - Time to say hello

      Hi,
I've been lurking for about 3 months reading post after post but now think it's time to say hello.

I'm a 34year old male and have read snippets about LDing for years and years but only after finding this site did I really start the study it.

After all the reading I've been doing this is the action plan I'm currently working through on a day to daily basis.

      Reality Checks

      Finger through palm of hand
      Breathing through pinched nose
Check time on digital watch and recheck
Read 'Am I dreaming card' and re-read it

I do RC's every half hour.

      Subliminal MP3s

      Listen to before bed

      Dream Journal

Record all my dreams every night when I wake up.

      Auto Suggestion

I write down about 20 times on a piece of paper before bed "Next time I'm dreaming I want to remember to realize that I'm dreaming'

      MILD

I then MILD going to sleep repeating to myself. Tonight I will wake up after each dream and remember it.

I have been keeping a dream journal for about 1 month now and my dream recall has vastly improved. Two nights ago I woke up about 4 time during the night and wrote down about 7 dreams.

What do you guys think of my plan?

If I stick to it diligently should I get results?

One question I have is. When I wake up and write down my dreams I sometimes find it hard getting back to sleep. I mean I'm asleep again within 20 or so but I have then lost that initial sleeplyness. Now that my recall is good should I concentrate on the MILD, not staying awake for too long after waking up?

Also can you have places as a dream signs? In my dreams I always seem to be in Work, back in my home town of 18 years or in my family house where I grew up?

I can't say that I have had any real lucid dreams as yet but hope to have one soon.

Any advice would be most welcome!

      Thanks

      Paul

You do clock checks?!? People say that they're great, but, I must tell you this; one day that RC will let you down! It's useful nutil the day it does but one day the numbers won't magically change, they'll change like they will in real life. Same goes with text checks. I think it's because you get so used to relying on it that somehow it just stops working on you [that's the best I can explain it but you have to admit, people's biological clocks are pretty accurate so maybe that's what dream time begins to base it on instead of random times?]

And of course you can have places that are dream signs [I think, lolz]! If I remember correctly, a dreamsign is anything that occurs often enough in your dreams that make you question whether or not you're dreaming.

Wow, that's some great plan of action you have there.

And with your recall good it would be a good time to start working on MILDs. Sounds like you're progressing quite well, you should be lucid dreaming in no time.

Welcome to Dream Views, funkychimp, and best of luck with your goals.

Thanks for the quick replies and advice Gents.

I've been keeping a DJ for about a month now and have started to add the other bits to the plan. Hopefully I'll be sharing my lucid experiences with you soon.

By the way this site rocks, all the posts seem really friendly and help full. I hope I can give something back in the future when I'm a lucid Master.

      Thanks

      Paul

Clock reality checks have never failed me yet. But I compare my analog wristwatch to an analog wall clock. Pretty much wherever I am, there are clocks around that I can reference. Just do whatever works for you.

oh and welcome to the forum! Good luck and have fun

Exactly. Everyone's different and if something works for you, then just keep doing it. Just don't switch around your reality checks and techniques too much. Try to stick with one for a while and see if it gets you any results.

Though it sounds like you have everything under control, and you are making progress every night. Good luck! I'm sure you'll have your first lucid dream soon.

It's true that sometimes clocks in dreams behave exactly like they do in real life. I usually have a good sense of the flow of time, so clocks behave normally for me in dreams for the most part. But this technique can work very well for some.

Oh, that's true I wonder if it's a good thing when clocks in a dream go by like ones in real life? I'm sure though that for those who don't have it that way, it'll work perfectly.
