      Breathing in LD

Breathing is like involuntary and shits, does that mean that in a LD you can stay without needing to breathe? I'm asking this because my friend said that in an OOBE you can feel the sensation of not needing to breathe.

maybe he means u forget, like when u concentrate breathing during the process u forget u are breathing and it just comes passively. Not sure if i said it right.

Well technically in a lucid dream because its all a virtual creation of your mind you would not be aware of your breathing but i suppose you could stop yourself breathing in the lucid dream and have no problems since its virtual, you'd still be breathing in waking life but not in the lucid dream.

I've never noticed the sensation of needing to breath, but I've never really looked for it either. As far as im aware you don't really need to control your breathing from within a lucid dream.

Nose RC? That's not something strange that's likely/possible to happen when you're dreaming; AFAIK it's completely reliable. And apparently holding your breath carries over to your real body too. So no breathing in an LD is probably a rather bad idea :-).

The simplest assumption is that how you breathe in a dream is exactly the same as how you're breathing in RL. In the same sort of way eye movements carry over.

Ontopic: dunno about OOBE's; can't remember reading anything about breathing in that.

I breathe in LD's when I think about it other than that you most likely will not notice yourself breathing. As for OBE's I am not highly experienced in that field so I would not be able to tell you.

I go underwater sometimes, so I guess that means no, I don't breathe in lucids.

I wasn't aware of that, you sure its true, well technically in the dream you are not breathing, its just virtual air created by your imagination. I'll have to research that one.

Recently I was half-lucid in a dream, at a certain time me some people were underwater searching for an exit. I was holding my breath like in waking life, but I didn't feel any pain or need to breath, it was like I could go on like that forever.

Just like anything else in an LD, if you expect to need to breathe, you will probably find it difficult to hold your breath.
