      Another newbie...

I'm a newbie to dreamviews.com. I've had a few lucid dreams in the past, but I haven't had any for a while and when I did have them I wasn't that great at controlling them, although I could run around and do whatever I wanted. I love lucid dreaming mainly because of the incredible detail and because I can basically do whatever I want in the dream. But I wanted to learn more techniques on how to have them since I haven't had lucid dreams in such a long time. My dream recall is okay, but I want to improve that, too.

I have a question to ask people who have lucid dreams often; since I am the only one out of my friends and family that has ever had lucid dreams, I've never been able to ask other people about their experiences. What do you do in your dream when you become lucid? I mean, there are endless possibilities, I have no idea what I would do. I usually just try random things and explore. But is there anything you always do when you have a lucid dream?

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

If you want to check out some people's experiences, a good place to check out would be their Dream Journals. While not everyone here is experienced or a natural at Lucid Dreaming, the experiences can be quite interesting.

If you have any questions be sure to ask on the boards or one of our many Dream Guides (us with the green names and stars )

      welcome!

when I was younger, in my first lucid dream, I explored like you did and asked dream characters questions. I started having flying dreams so I soon tried that. Then I think from video games I got the idea of going through walls and well, everything. That was a lot of fun, it's amazing being able to do things like that in your dreams since you can't in waking life. My most recent advancement in dream control is being able to throw a ball of energy which hit and made the road explode.

I'd say think of things you really want to do that you aren't able to in real life. And like how you have to get reality checks in your mind by doing them while you are awake and just thinking about them so you remember to do it in your dreams, ideas for flying and everything don't always come to mind while dreaming.

Id say, and I think most would agree, that the best way to improve dream recall is by keeping a dream journal. and remember, you can do whatever you want, don't worry about not being able to, you have to just know you can.

Some people are attracted to the idea of defying normal laws of nature. Others want to develop abilities, sort of like extending their practice time into the sleeping hours. Still others resolve issues, confront fears, etc. And some people are drawn to the prospect of interacting with people in ways you wouldn't normally be able to in waking life.

Me? I've got a little of all of that pushing me along!

One good piece of advice for you, Smashley346, might be to make a plan ahead of time about what you want to dream about, what you want to do in your next LD. Keep that in mind as you go to sleep - you might think of it as "reminding" yourself of what you want to do, so you'll remember when you get into that next dream.
