I'm sure somebody else is replying while I write this, but here goes:

1. You might try "prepping" yourself to recall dreams. Think about the dreams you're going to have, tell yourself you're going to remember them. Maybe think about keeping a notepad next to your bed so you can write down dreams right when you wake up (even in the middle of the night).

2. An RC is where you "test" to see if you're awake. The idea is that you test yourself a lot during waking hours, and you'll get in the habit of doing that RC. Then, when you are dreaming, you'll subconsciously do a reality check, and it will fail, and you'll know you're dreaming. Example: Everytime you see a blue car, you do an RC by pinching your nose closed and trying to inhale. If you see a blue car in your dream, you will automatically do the RC, but you'll still be able to breathe! You say, wow, I must be dreaming. Then, hopefully, you go lucid. RCs generally are meant to work in conjunction with dreamsigns, which you identify after you have a good journal going. If you often find that your shoes are untied in your dreams, make a point to do an RC every time you see your shoes.

3. You mean, they try to jump out the window, but they don't have control of their dream? So what? Maybe you wake up, maybe you just hit the ground and bounce twenty feet in the air. Being "lucid" just means you're aware you're dreaming, not necessarily in control of the dream (although that is the goal, eventually).

Hope that helps!
