      My First Post

I learned about lucid dreaming just out of curiosity and searching on the internet. At first I was really enthusiastic about trying a WILD because I didn't want to wait till night for a DILD. So I started relaxing and repeating "I will lucid dream, I will go from waking to lucidity." after some time I realized that all was very dark. Not normal dark but REALLY dark and no light patterns on my eyelids. Then I could really concentrate and sort of pushed or forced myself to sink into my bed and into the dark (still repeating the sentence.) Then my heart started racing and I was trying to keep my focus but I couldn't hold it. I sort of panicked and woke up. Was I close to achieving my state of dreaming? Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

BTW: I just had a lucid dream last night out of the blue. I realized I was dreaming but I got excited and tried to spin but I woke up a few seconds after i stopped spinning.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Hrm that seems interesting. You may have actually entered the dream with out realising it. If everything was really dark ect, or you could have just been entering sleep paralysis and experiencing the weird vibrations.

With the lucid dream, try rubbing your hands next time, it is far better then spinning.

Yes, don't spin because it'll ruin your imagination, it did with me anyway "Hey ace I'm spinning" "Oh god I can't walk straight". No No, I was Day Dreaming!

For newbies, its best to start out with something easier. WILDing is really for the more advanced people, and is a little more difficult when youre just starting out.
But if you force yourself to do it, it may take some time. Be patient, and try try again.
just remember any sort of feelings or sights you see are just part of your sub/conciousness, and should be viewed passivily. (sp?) If you find yourself panicing, or freaking out just calm yourself down by focusing on your breathing, or the counting in your head
      Good luck!

Hey there, welcome to the forum!

I get similar things myself when I'm over tired. I doubt it could be made into a stable dream though, unless you were in an REM period. As DDK said, I wouldn't try WILD until you've been lucid dreaming a while, it's hard for experienced people and you'll risk knocking your confidence if you fail a lot. Rally I'd save it for a bit.

I had another LD last night, that makes it two in a row. Although this time I'm not sure weather to call it a DILD or a WILD. I had just woken up at about 4 in the morning and couldnt fall back asleep. I just rolled over (not trying to LD) and started thinking about random stuff. After a while I could feel myself losing consciousness and I thought that I should remember to think i'm dreaming. I fell asleep and as soon as I started dreaming I knew I was dreaming. So i tried stretching my arm and floating and other stuff, It was suprisingly easy if "knew" it would work. This time I stayed lucid for a decent amount of time. Lucky me LDing two nights in a row.
