Talking SHORT& SWEET, But FIRST LD NONETHELESS!

I believe I just had my first lucid dream, this past Sunday morning. It was a bit sudden and unexpected. I had woken up from a night’s sleep at around 8 am in the morning to the knocking of my uncle outside the door. Someone was supposed to be working on the closet. Even though I was still sleepy, I decided to just go ahead an start my day early. But the workers never came, and it was already maybe 9 am. So I decided I would go to sleep. Now this is where it all starts. I had episodes of sleep paralysis (which has been happening to me all my life but I never knew what it was) and as usual, became really nervous and forced myself to wakeup. Sucks, because I promised myself the next time I had one, I wouldnt freak out and instead attempt a WILD. I had SP maybe 2 more times, and continued to “break away” from it. I decided that I wouldn’t try to WILD that day… lol. Eventually I fell asleep. I had two fragment dreams that I don’t remember at all. The third dream, however, I remember. This is what happened:

      blue = lucid

It was an overcast day and I was skateboarding outside my girlfriend’s house in the street. Her little brother, Wally, was skating with me. He’s much better than me in reality, since I'm just a beginner, and so it was the same way in my dream. I was going down steep driveways to “show off’ that I was pretty darn good for a beginner. He then called out, “Oh yea, can you do this?” and he popped a really nice trick, like a weird looking manual or something. I wanted to do something, but hesitated for second, since I knew I could never do anything like that, at least since I was a beginner. But then, as I rounded a turn, I don’t know exactly what got into me, but I though “MAN, I’m gonna show this foo UP!” and I suddenly did a MASSIVE kick flip which resulted in me and my board jutting about 20 feet into the freakin’ air. It seemed like I was in slow motion in the air, and while up there, I thought, “Wait a minute, I’m dreaming!” Still in the air, I did a reality check by plugging my nose and breathing, and it worked. I got really excited and was planning to do another wicked trick, but “woke up” even before I reached the ground.

The reason why I quote the waking up is because I don’t really know if I woke up. I woke up, but I felt extremely groggy and my body was very heavy. I felt like I was still in slow motion. Then all of a sudden I could move fine.

Did I have a false awakening? And also, during my lucid dream, IF it was in fact a lucid dream, when I did my RC, it was hard for me to breathe out my nose. Felt like my nose was stuffy. Funny thing is, my nose was in fact stuffy before I went to bed. Does that usually happen??? If so, was I actually acting out my breathing in real life when I was doing so in my dream? And one more thing, what kind of lucid dream would this fall into?

Even though my first lucid was short, it was still quite an experience. A really weird feeling indeed!

Could have been a false awakening, or it could have been sleep paralysis. I'd guess the latter.

Way to go! Good job thinking to RC, too. Keep at it!
      LD Counter (as of 07.25.07) = 5 (2 WILDs)
Short-term goal: Recall three full dreams a night for a full week.
Long-term goal: Have three LDs per week for one month.
Longer-term goal: Have one six-hour LD every night! (Shooting too high? We'll see.)
Waking life goal: Round up some NPSG equipment to study my own sleep patterns.

yay too you! i too hope to experiance my first LD soon.

About the episodes of SP, this can happen to people that drink alot of fizzy pop, there is a chemical (i cant remeber the name) in certain brands that causes SP from large quantities. My friend had episodes of SP, sometimes lasting nearly 5 mins and that was the cause.

      Again congrats on the LD

      My first one

I had one the first night i learned of it... it went something like this...

i found my self on the wrong side of the bed, or the side i didnt go to sleep on so i did a reality check and then i noticed i was dreaming. i jumped out of bed and jumped a few times and then i woke up

Such a shame this has to end, things are out of his command.
