      Newbie ^^

Hi all, I just wanna say, I'm not really the sort of person to be interested in this kind of thing, but my friend was explaining it to me, and I think I should give it a shot.

I have a question about starting lucid dreaming,
On the page How to Learn Lucid Dreaming, it says having above average dream recall is helpful. I often remember my dreams up until around 11 o clock, when the details become hazy, and a lot of the time have forgotten almost all of the dream by the evening, does that mean I have good or bad dream recall?

      Thanks in advance,
      Faraway

First off, welcome to the forum, Faraway

About recall, it's generally a good idea to remember at least 1-2 dreams per night, and be recording these in your dream journal before really starting to actively try lucid dreaming. Having good, consistent recall is important because what's the point of having an LD if you can't remember it?

If you're not already keeping a dream journal, the first thing you should do is start one. Keeping a DJ will help increase your recall by default because your mind will be more steered toward remembering and recording your dreams.

I'd recommend keeping a pad of paper and a pen next to your bed, and any time you wake up and remember ANYTHING about ANYTHING, jot it down on the note pad. In the morning, or whatever you can, transfer these thoughts and keywords into your actual dream journal in the form of as much of the dream as you can remember.

Dream journaling will also help you recognize patterns to your dreams, called dreamsigns, which can later be used to help you become aware that you are dreaming.

      Hope that helps

      ^^ good advice!
Dream journals quickly and effectively help you get better dream recall. Usually just the intention to write stuff down helps a little, and then actually writing it down just makes it better.
You say you're not really a person to be into it, just wait until you get your first LD
Oh yeah, and to the forum!

Hey Faraway and welcome to DreamViews

You are definately capable of having lucid dreams! All it takes is a bit of willpower, but hey, you may get lucky and you may be a natural at it and you didn't know, lucid dreaming is fascinating and the experience is so cool! A good dream recall is when you can remember alot of dreams with alot of detail however i would class that as awesome recall, you don't need to be a pro with your recall but it definately helps to build it up a bit. Just build it to what your comfortable with, like remembering two dreams per night, then you can start trying to induce some lucid dreams But know this, if you wake up early and remember som dreams and then put it out of your mind it will probably be gone by the time you try to recall it again, it is advisable to keep a dream journal, try writing down what you remember when you wake up, on a notepad, even if its the tiniest detail, you will succeed if you try!

If you have any other questions or problems feel free to ask
