      Newbie here.

Hey dreamviews, i have been trying to have a lucid dream for about 5-8 days. last night i had a dream that i was lucid dreaming! I know it sounds crazy, but for some reason i tried to change the location (FYI: the dream took place in my bedroom.) and i tried to make a DC appear but it was useless, and when the dream started I rubbed my hands.

Why wasn't it a lucid dream? I did not think it was a dream, and my body did this subconciously (spelling?).

(if only i dreamed of doing an RC.....)

so my question is, how far am I from a lucid dream?

      Hello and to the forum.

You say you dreamt it was lucid how so? Did you know you were dreaming? If you did it was a lucid.

If you just had control well you just had dream control.

Depending on what you answer, you will either already have had a lucid dream or be close to having one.

Either way, congrats. Sounds like a cool dream.

I've had crazy dreams like that too. There was one where I did the nose RC, I could breathe, and yet I still did not become lucid.

You don't have to pull off crazy stunts for it to be considered a lucid dream. As long as you know you're dreaming, it counts.

I'd say you're pretty close to getting an LD. Don't get discouraged though if you don't have one right away, for me it took about a month before I had my first one.

      Good luck!

Hey Headhunter and to the forum

You can still dream about being lucid and not being lucid in the dream, its like dreaming that you are having a dream within a dream if you get me. Its strange but because you dream you had a lucid dream doesn't mean that you wouldn't be lucid. However if you were pretty sure that it was a dream, even if it was a gut feeling you may have been lucid

      Hi Headhunter!

There are many levels of and variations on lucid dreaming, including the annoying "dreaming that you're lucid-dreaming, but not actually becoming lucid" dream. I think everyone has dreams similar to yours (or ones where you think that you're lucid, but when you wake up, you realize that you really weren't), but as you gain more experience and you learn to recognize being in a dream-state better, you will actually become lucid.

Good luck and have fun here at DV!

      to Dreamviews!
I've had plenty of annoying almost-LDs. One where I was riding my bike, and saw a red light. I said to myself, this is a dream, I don't have to stop, but didn't "really" become lucid.
Either way, you're getting close to a LD. Don't forget to tell us when you have your first one!
