      New To All This

I read about Lucid Dreaming in my Psych class, and I was really interested.
Then I ended up seeing A Scanner Darkly, which lead me to Waking Life.
After seeing this movie I read a thread by ExoByte on IMDB. He was talking
about LDs and he gave this site.

I've had one LD in my life, and I didn't know what it was until recently.
It was stupid, but I liked it. I'm starting a dream journal, and I already
have all I can remember of two dreams. I'm really hoping I am able to
pick this up easily. I have no hobbies, only college, so I have time.

Can anyone give me some tips on improving my dream recall?
I can usually remember a piece of two dreams I have every night.
But they're small. Luckily, I remember a lot of detail in those
pieces of my dreams. It's like a video repeating in my head, and
I can remember almost every detail. But I want to remember more
      of them. Any help?

You can improve recall by wakening up at REM times,
it also improves the chance of a DILD

      Hi, welcome to Dream Views.

Great that you've started a journal. The best way to improve dream recall is if you make sure you write something in the journal everyday. Even if it's only a flickering fragment or even an emotion you felt upon waking. Train your mind and body to recall and record and it you should start recalling longer more vivid dreams.

Intent is good, simply intend to remember your dreams and mean it as you're drifting off. I'll leave it at that, Im sure others will have good, if not, better suggestions.

      See you around.

How do I wake up during REM sleep?
My sleep patterns suck, and I can never really fall asleep.
It takes a good 2 hours for me to fall asleep, no matter how
bad the day was. I think it would be hard for me to time it.
Every time I'm about to fall asleep I have to be really still
or I lose it and have to wait twenty minutes to get back
      to that again.

      Thanks for the advice, everyone.

You set your alarm for 4-5 hours into sleep, and then for every 30-60 minutes after that. You might have to tweak the numbers a bit. Basically you're waking up during a dream, which makes it really easy to remember. Keep your journal handy...

Well hey there shadownet and welcome to the forum

Its awesome that your interested in lucid dreaming, to answer your question, i think a good way to improve your recall is to plan to recall your dreams when you awaken in the morning, do this the night before, i find that it helps me dreams seem more clear because i put out the intention. Another way is to tell yourself before bed that you will remember your dreams, it can really work if you believe it to. With dream recall it is good to keep a dream journal and write down any details from the previous night, anything at all may help so its best to write down even the smallest details because things will improve eventually

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

      Hello, welcome to Dream Views!

As the others have said, intention to remember dreams and the act of writing a dream journal helps a lot with dream recall. You'll find keeping this up for a few weeks you'll be remembering a lot more dream than before.

I can't find a multiple-alarm clock, is there something off the internet for that?

I'm quite sure a lot of mobile phones can do it. The last two I had could.
