      Doin the Noobie thing

Just thought this looked like the hip and cool noobie thing to do, so I will introduce myself. My name is Matt, I'm 17, goin to UM-Rolla next year for college (woohoo) to take Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. I've been a guitar nut for a while. Trained in Ryuku Kempo for 8 years. And I'm currently training for a triathlon. I've had lucid dreams for as long as I can remember....just extremely rarely. I had one recently that was particularly vivid. I was stuck at home, bored...so I looked up "dream control" on google having no idea what I was really looking for. I found DVs, read the whole site through 3 times, and became interested to say the least. I am an EXTREMELY light sleeper, and have excelent (IMO) dream recall. I wake up about 4-5 times a night, and every time I can remember exactly what I was dreaming about. I am currently trying to develop a habit of being superbly aware of my waking surroundings in hopes of becoming lucid more often. Phew, a bit long winded for me this late at night, but now you know who I am!

Natural? Eh, kinda. I am about THE most logical person I know. Any situation I am ever in I assess logically, no matter what it is. So when I dream, I guess that carries over and every once in a while I achieve lucidity when I realize something isn't quite right. However, that only happens about 4 or 5 times a year. And after looking around DV, I'm hoping to increase that number.

Wow, 4/5 LDs per year. That's impressive for them being natural! I am somewhat logical myself but once I enter a dream there is a block. I accept everything as reality, no matter how bizzare.

You'll probably increase your number, you've got an advance because you have had natural LDs.

I am so jealous of you

Well, after reading about RCs and how they are supposed to work (even though I see some people here say they don't) I'm pretty sure my mindset in life may have something to do with why I've had these LDs. I don't take anything for granted. If I see a bird in a tree in my backyard, I don't pass it by, I look at it and "assess" it in some sense. Kinda hard to explain. I can't really zone things out, so whatever I see I have to take in with my senses fully and analyze it(even if its only a split second glance). I'm hoping that just increasing this "awareness" of my waking surroundings will help me have more LDs.

A natural LDer and a natural RCer!

I have the opposite problem. I zone out way too much. People think I have ADD...

I usually write "Am I dreaming" on my hand and do RCs by checking my digital watch. Whenever I see something bizzare, I do a RC (funny how I don't in dreams... lol)

It sounds like you have a very good dream recall.
That is helpful if you want to LD.
      Are you dreaming?

Dude! I'm right there with you. Being an engineer, I am extremely logical as well! It does help! Oh and did I mention that Mr. Spock was someone I looked up to when I was young?

We logical types need to stick together in this world of raw emotion and illogic!

      Welcome to DV!

Seeker, be quiet! Haven't you gotten the latest memo?!? We are supposed to keep hush-hush about this until the flippant-minded ones are at their weakest....and then we STRIKE! It is, of course, the logical thing to do.

Greetings Thumbro! No, I have not found an adopter for myself yet, but I'm thinking I should be ok without one. Although I can't adopt you, I would be more than happy to talk with you about natural LD's if you have had them too.

      That's real relevant

I think he's just saying that to get Paperdoll of his leg(see picture thread)

WELCOME!!!! I also believe the key to lucidity is complete self-awareness and a logical mind. With this combination and a lot of practice, LDing shouldn't be that hard(I generally have 2-3 LD's a week)
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
