      Scared the Sh*t out myself

So im kinda new to the lucid dreaming world But there I was yesterday night trying to enter a lucid dream. So I was laying there for about 20 mins and I felt my self entering the transition phase. I could hear a change in my hearing as this wave came over me, so I was pretty excited that after months of trying it was finally working. All of a sudden I hear the loudest bang, at which point I opened my eyes and saw a blue flash. This scared the living daylights outta me

Lol quite funny now but damn for a second I thought it was part of the transition phase or part of entering the dream. Turns out the power grid on the street shorted or blewup. But I was pissed

But my experience ended well as at about 3am the burgler alarm went off because of no power and so I turned that off and went back to sleep. It was a little while after that I had my first lucid dream and I didnt even try to have one then.

I woke up (or so I thought in my room back at home) I was amazed actually how real it all seemed, but then I remembered that this cant be right because im on holiday right now and I dont remember taking my flight back home, it was then when I became lucid. Didnt last too long though maybe 15 mins.

But im excited now lol so hoping theres loads more lucid dreams to come.

Hehehe and congrats on your lucid dream! Waking up a couple of times during that night probably contributed to you becoming lucid!

Congratulations. And may your next one not require random explosions in your neighborhood.

Man, that would piss me off. Last night I was laying there and suddenly this bright light appeared on my ceiling. It startled me a little. Then I realized it was my stupid cell phone displaying the "battery done charging" screen and would be dimming in a few seconds, which it did, but that brought me back to full conciousness.

      Anyway, welcome.

Yep lol actually I was doing a bit of research on sp. So am I right in saying with the wild technique you actually have to go through sp before you become lucid?

It seems most of the visual and audio hullicinations occur during sp and for some reason all seem to be kind of evil. I dont want to scare anyone else reading this either just wanted to know how common this really is.

      Thanks

I'd say it's somewhat common, providing you actually consciously experience SP. But, by no means is it going to happen in every case.

However, I want to point out that those things are often perceived as "evil" because they can catch people off guard. Remember, you don't have to know anything about LDing or SP to have the experience. That means that people who don't understand it misunderstand what it really is and they get frightened and freak out. They think it's something out of the ordinary or supernatural and the only way they can explain it is to call it an "evil presence", or something similarly sinister.

Since you now know what it is you'll be able to face it without fear.

Hey slickg, yes in the WILD technique you do have to go through SP, however it has been common among some not even to feel SP when it overcomes them, its asthough they skip it out or just let it slip without realising and get straight to the HI, but yes you have to go through SP if attempting a WILD, but watch out for the imagery that may sneak up on you, you may think that your not in SP when you are and if you experience the imagery it is a good sign to keep you on track.

Listen, we all define evil differently in some ways and i think what you need to do is try and convert these negative thoughts towards the hallucinations to positive thoughts, think a bit more positively about the situation, this should hopefully extinguish any of these horrible hallucinations. Remember Its all a creation of your Mind. You can do it, just believe in yourself and you can achieve pretty much anything

Thanks for all the replies. Another question about hi. Some people say that it takes a while for them to see it and other say they dont hi at all. Basically what is hi? I ask because for me I can usually easily picture any scene in my mind within 5 or 10 mins of closing my eyes. Is that the same as hi or does hi take that a step further?

      Thanks

Okay, HI pretty much stands for Hypnogogic Imagery (spelling maybe incorrect) and it is basically like lights and basic shapes that you may experience as you enter the dream when attempting a WILD or another technique. HI is basically the step before, think of it like a light show in your mind, it is the scenery and dream coming together as shapes and colours fly by, i have never experienced it so sorry if its a bad description. You may not see it but like you said, many people can just visualize a scene and after some time it comes to life, its strange, it can happen for some and others have to work at it.

Haha, that reminds me of a dream (or possibly an SP expirience, I don't know now) that I had a years ago. I couldn't have been older than 7 or 8, and it was Christmas eve, so I was really excited. I dreamed that I couldn't move at all, and this lady in a blue satin outfit, with a matching cowgirl hat, was sitting on the foot of my bed singing. I thought that it was her singing that was paralysing me. Back then I didn't know about SP, so that might have been what it was and I didn't even know it.
