Hey guys, Someone mentioned this forum on a website i'm part of (neowin) and i'm not sure if i have experienced a lucid dream. I recently watched a film called 'The Good Night', exactly about this. I have a hard time recalling my dreams, but sometimes i can wake up from one but go back to sleep and get back into it. Everything about sleeping is a mystery to me. I have a problem sleeping everynight and have a messed up sleeping pattern. I really don't know what to say, but could anyone link me or tell me the jist of a lucid dream? the ways to have one and why? Also, some terms, such as WILD? what is that? Thanks

I'm sure you get a lot of new people completely new to this stuff, but you still take the time on explaining, really, thank you edit: Ok, i was reading about recording your dreams, which seems to be my first step but what happens if you...don't have dreams for a long time...?

you do have dreams bro=) It's just that you don't remember then that well if you start writing down your dreams every morning or even setting an alarm at night to wake up and try write down if you remember a dream=) (I do this and it work quite well) I remember parts of dreams per night and just 2 weeks ago I didn't remember anything at all in the mornings =)

Welcome saxon Hrm when recording your dreams, you should use a dream journal. All you need to do is write down anything that you can remember from the previous night/nap/sleep. It can be anything from events in the dream to emotions. It's best to do this straight aftery you wake up or else the dreams will slip from your head.

Here go a few tips that helped me with Dream Recall on the beggining. I was just like you, not recalling any dream for a long long time. here it goes: Take a day to oversleep, and make sure you keep your target in mind: remembering your dream. This should be the first thing you should think of when you wake up, so try to get it in your head in such a way that you'll remember it easily. Oversleeping will cause you to have clearer and longer dreams, since your REM sleep becomes more frequent the more you sleep. This should help you to get started. In order to remember your dream, try to remember what you were just doing. Go through your thoughts in reverse order until you remember the first things about your dream. The dream won't come up as a whole. You will firstly remember a feeling, a voice, a vision. When you focus on it, you will slowly remember more and more parts of your dream. Write down everything you remember, no matter in which order it is. You'll take time to organise it in a timeline later on. Finally, if you remember any missing part during your day, write it down immediately, so that you don't risk forgetting it. Vitamins B6 and B12 should also help you at the beggining. Bear hugs there

Thanks I was just reading up on dream recalling. Basically: Set my alarm at 90 minute intervals (REM) and write down my dreams everytime basically? I was wondering, do sleeping pills affect this?

I have no idea about sleeping pills, but I wouldn't recommend the intervealed waking up at the very beggining. Reserve it for when you have already recalled your first three dreams, else it won't make such a difference.

Yes, because if you don't have good dream recall, and have a lucid dream, how are you supposed to remember the LD? Also, you can try to spot Dream Signs, and you also just get a better feeling of what your dreams are like. Both of these benefits are also good for lucid dreaming

Developing dream recall is the first step to becomign conscious on your dreams, since your mind adapts to expecting to be in a dream. When you know wha tbeing in a dream feels like (through dream recall) it is way easier to become lucid.
