How Old Were You When You Had Your First Lucid Dream?

I was in the third grade. I had been having the same nightmare for weeks(sometimes more than once in a night). My poor mom was worn out from staying up with me and she kept telling me that it was just a dream. Dreams are my world and I could do anything that I wanted to make that monster go away. Here is the dream where I made him go away.
Barnabus Collins was in my room.(for you younger people Barnabus was a vampire on a tv show called "Dark Shadows") I stood up and told him that he was in my dream and he couldn't hurt me and then I spit tobacco juice right in his eye.
I never saw Barnabus again after that night.

I can't quite remember but I've been having them naturally on and off for most of my life. The earliest one to memory is 11 years old but I know for a fact I had them way before that.

.. Oh ... and here's a photo of Barnabas Collins for those who don't know him:
(I've spoilered it in case you don't want to see him damnpamn, lol)
      Spoiler for Barnabas Collins:

Feb. 2001, so I was 27 1/2. My first was within a week or so of first learning about lucid dreams and beginning to read "Lucid dreaming".

I thinks that this tread needs to be moved. Does not belong in Newbie zone. Job for Webmaster.

Anyway, in answer to the question, 49 after which I nearly kicked the bucket. Hopefully I have only missed out on half a lifetime of LD's, time (or the absence of it) will tell.

      Can anyone beat that age???

The first one I remember I was around 9 or 10, maybe younger. I was on a sinking ship and I was freaking out along with everyone else when suddenly for some reason I realized I was dreaming. I stopped worrying and I told everyone there's nothing to worry about because it's just a dream. They all still seemed to be terrified because it wasn't their dream and they were still doomed to sink with the ship!

I was about 5. I remember it well because it still seems strange to this day. I was playing with my mother in my room when the guy from "Angel" walked in. He nodded to me and I began to tell my mother that I was dreaming and that she wasn't real and that it was time for me to wake up now. I also told her that I would see her the next time I went to sleep. I then nodded to the guy and walked beside him all the way from my room out my back door. Lining the way were a bunch of guys in SWAT uniforms. As soon as I went out the door I woke up. I find it strange because it was a lucid initiated by a DC.

I was 20. I may have had others, but thats the first that I knew about it. I had a FA in my bed and tried to hover, but couldn't.

      My (rather large) little introduction.

I'm a rather new here, but-
For all my life I've pretty much had lucid dreams. Not all the time, but I can't remember when I started, it was that early.
As a child I used to love storybooks of fantasy and such, so when I read them or when I was in bed waitinf for sleep, I would set things up in my mind like a little movie reel, with my being the main character. Though they sometimes went into the dream, it was never really significant.
Other times (and I'm understanding this part is lucid dreaming) I would be in that stage where I'm sort of awake but not really. And I'd know it was a dream and I'd fix it to where I won.

Though one dream in particular bugs me still. I had a really horrible nightmare one time, and I woke up from it, like, WIDE awake. But- it was still there (pulsating gore) sort of transparent (I could see my pillow underneath it, and the floor and wall and such.) and moving. I tried to close my eyes and open them again- it didn't work. I prayed really hard afterwards, and after a few minutes the gore was just- gone. Like it had never been there.
That isn't lucid dreaming, is it? I mean, I was awake, but I could still see it, and I couldn't control what I saw. I have no mental issues or odd psychosis. So I know it wasn't something along those lines..

I don't know how old I was. Somewhere between ages 5-8 or so. I faintly remember it. There was a big bulldog attacking me and I suddenly realized I was dreaming. I didn't do much besides stand up to the dog finding out that it just wanted me to pet him, then I woke up. (It was going to attack me before I was lucid for sure)

The year was 1992 so I was six years old. I remember the year because it was the same year the movie "Wayne's World" was released, and Mike Myers & Dana Carvey were chasing me down the street trying to kill me! I suddenly realized I was dreaming and I sat on the concrete road, covered my head with my hands and told myself that I'm dreaming. I then woke up.

I had my first lucid dream within a week of learning about lucid dreaming. I think that was about sometime in May this year when i was 16.

I was around 7yrs old, and it was all due to all those nightmares I had.. One day I just realized I HAD to be dreaming, and in each dream I'd always try new ways to wake myself up

I have no idea, been naturally lucid dreaming all my life, and can't remember my first as I thought it was a normal thing to be able to control dreams, so never thought much of it.

I was around 7 years old.
I woke in my dream to crystal clear vision down in the paddock down the road.
I was so amazed, but didn't know what to do, so I woke after 30 seconds or so.
I so much wanted it again, but at 7 you don't know how.
Here I am at 37 trying now to get it back.

Hey, Super Duck, Barnabus doesn't scare me anymore! In fact I became a big fan of Dark Shadows reruns when I was in high school. Thanks for being so considerate though.

well I was very small when I had my first LD experience... I was like 7 or 8 ... I was dreaming I was in the headmaster's office waiting for him, for I have done something wrong....I was very very nervous...then I realized it was just a dream..and got very happy, I think they even brought some candy after that. Then I wouldn't have one until I was like 17/18. And since then I didn't have one, until 2 days ago ... I'm 19 now.

Had dreams where I was flying at ~10. Difficult to say authoritatively that I was lucid because it was some time ago + they stopped happening, so memories fade, and I didn't know the word at the time. I definitely did it often, and I remember being frustrated sometimes when it didn't quite work, because I knew how well I had flown in other dreams. I teleported as well, though not often.

I suspect the flying thing got started, or was reinforced, by reading Douglas Adams (Arthur teaches himself to fly, and there's an entry about flying in the Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy).
