      Unhappy Help!

      Hello DV.

I have been trying to become 'lucid' for about 2-3 weeks. I am 14 yrs old (15 in january) and I go to sleep anywhere from 11 until 1 and I get up at 7:15 on schooldays (12 at weekends). I have never had a lucid dream but what got me interested was once I started to enter SP. I asked someone about it and they told me about lucid dreaming. I have tried 2 techniques, counting my breathing and SP. I have half-managed sleep paralysis twice but I fell asleep the rest of the time. I am extremely enthusiastic about lucid dreaming and have read a lot about it. I also try to regularly do reality checks. I am aiming to do a reality check every 40-45 mins but at the moment I am only managing one every 1 and a half hours. Could someone please suggest anything to help me. Techniques, hints, whether I should buy a book on it or get an LD Device. Thank You.

      welcome to dreamviews

Do you remember any dreams, if you dont you should want to do that, or your reality checks wont do anything. I also suggest going to bed a lot earlier, when you go to bed earlier you have a much greater chance of having a lucid dream. You also want to try wild around 4-5 in the morning, so you are in the middle of a dream.

I have a dream journal with about 10 entries in now. I can remember about 4 extremely vividly. The others not so much.

seems youre starting into the DILD method. May I suggest you look into MILD? its much easier for people new to this experience. read some of it before bed so its fresh in your mind. and remember. practice makes perfect if you try hard enough and dont.. become lazy about it.

For most people, being able to or having a LD requires learning the skills necessary starting with dream recall, (start a journal) and doing regular reality checks. Start at the beginning and learn the different techniques. One of them will work for you but you have to be patient. It only took me 48 years to have my first LD, but then, I wasnt trying, it just happened.

Best wishes, good luck and WELCOME.

As Sugarglider suggested, working on your dream recall is the first step.

I suggest keeping a dream journal, and trying to make an entry at least every night. Even if you don't remember a dream, or you think the dream was boring, write something in that journal.

Related to this, you should start waking up 1-2 times a night, right after your REM periods, so you have more chances to remember dreams.

For a lot of people, just waking up at the right time in the night, and then going back to bed will get them very vivid if not lucid dreams.

Other than that, there are so many fun techniques to try!!

Last night I took some B6 Vitamin which made me have 3 extremely vivid dreams. Two of them were quite long and related to each other and I could can still remember them without having to look at my dream journal. I also remember making a decision in my dream. I wasn't lucid, I didn't realise I was in a dream but I made a decision about something which influenced the whole dream. I think this is a step forward
