Congratulations on two DILDs in one night! They may have been short, but it's definitely a start! It gets easier to control and prolong dreams with practice, yes, simply because of experience. However, there are things you can do to improve both. For dream control, expecting something to happen doesn't always work. A more effective method is usually to expect it to happen somewhere out of your field of vision. For example, instead of making someone appear out of thin air, try expecting them to be inside a building, then walk into that building. Building a gadget (or finding one in your pocket) is also effective. If you can't simply control the weather, get a weather control gadget!

For prolonging the dream, spinning your dream body or rubbing your dream hands together is usually your best chance at saving the dream. Also, as soon as you become lucid, "ground" yourself in the dream by touching and feeling objects, feeling for detail, and fully convincing yourself that you are indeed dreaming.
