Yes, you had a brief moment of lucidity because as you said, you realised that you were dreaming.
Did you not think about trying to stay in the dream and consciously defeat the nightmare, or maybe even change the scene to somewhere better?
Also, when you said you woke up in bed and then entered another dream, this could have been a false awakening, where you only dream that you have woken up. Next time this happens to you, try performing a reality check to see if you really are awake
If you find that you are still dreaming, you can of course take advantage of this and go on to have a great LD.
Consciousness: that annoying time between naps.

Yep! Any time at all that you know you're dreaming, then you're lucid.

i know i should of tried to take control but i just had no control over what i was doing i think it might of just been part of my dream
No, you probably just had a low level of lucidity.

      I'd count that, I think.

Nightmares tend to trigger brief moments of lucidity in me, too - just enough to get myself out of the bad situation. Then, back to normal.

(Hopefully I can change that, and stay lucid and control the dream more from there on. The tough part of the nightmare scenario is that once I get out of the bad part, the dream scene changes, and that makes it harder to maintain lucidity without proper training.)

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

Awaken dreams... If you do not recall having them, you still could have had them - but, if you did not know you was awake in the dream, then no. This was not an "awaken dream" ...

When you sit/are as awake as you are now sitting there, reading this; in a dream, knowing you are also in your bed sleeping, then you are having a "awaken" dream, ...
I know who I am, as I become...

Yep that was a lucid dream. Trying to wake yourself up means that you knew that you weren't awake in the first place, which is the definition of lucidity.
