I don't know if that would help, but you could give it a try.

Yeh you could try that, or just imagine yourself, as clearly as you can, somewhere with mountains. Imagine yourself doing a reality check and realizing that you are infact dreaming. You should probably try that accompanied with a WBTB or even when you're in sleep paralysis. Once you are in sleep paralysis, try and "roll" your body out into the mountain scene that you are imagining. Hope that helps somewhat

if you cant count your fingers thats a pretty good dream sign itself!

But do you mean...you are simply imagining counting your fingers...or you are doing it in a dream?

I dó see the scenes I'm trying to imagine, but they're too vague to see. When I look at my hands (RC) I knów they've got 6 or more fingers, but I can't count them because they're too vague. Any ideas? I'm still aware of the fact I'm awake, so I'm not dreaming yet.
Six more fingers?! Unless you were born with extra fingers, that's a clear indication you were dreaming! It doesn't matter whether you could count them or not - if you were awake, why would the imagery be so vague? Vagueness itself can be a dreamsign.

To clear up or "stabilize" the dream, simply call out (or speak) "increase clarity" - as you would if you were in some hologram deck or something. If not, keep staring at your hands, try and see if you can count he lines in your skin, focus, you'll see that you'll start gaining clarity and detail as your mind renders what it thinks your hands should look like up close.

That's the weirdest thing of it all. I can't count them, but my mind just knóws there are more than 5 fingers on one hand. I'm just imagining myself counting my fingers, yes. Anyway, thanks guys, I'll try out your advice and report back

Yup, it's a documented technique. Theory of why it works? Not sure, my guess is that control in a dream relies on how confident we are that it is a dream. Calling it out sort of re-assures and demands a response from the dream, re-affirms our awareness, and gives us a reaction to expect.
