Thread: Reality Checking

I'm not an expert at this, I've been out of practice for months, but I seem to remember a suggestion about doing a reality check whenever something unusual happens, or if you recognize a dream sign from your dreams, do it whenever you see the dream sign in reality. Example: If your dream sign is a cat, when you see a cat, do a RC.

I don't know what would happen if you RC 'each time you go through a door', beyond people wondering about you.

The importance of RC's cannot be overrated. You need to do a RC every 20 minutes to half an hour untill it becomes a habit so that you will automatically do one during a dream and become conscious of the fact that your are dreaming, become lucid. Why so often? How long does a dream last? You want to be able to do the RC during the dream.

Pick a simple RC that is not obvious to others. The most common suggestion is trying to poke your finger through your hand. That one takes two hands to do and and if your carrying something, difficult to do.
I often do the simple one of trying to poke my tongue through my closed teeth. Simple, unnoticeable and effective.

Oh, I'm sure something out of the ordinary happens to you at times. I'm not saying it is the only time to do a RC, it's a great time to do one, whenever you notice anything strange.

One day, I was driving home from work and I saw a truck with a flat bed trailer with what looked like paper rolls or something on it. The trailer was getting wet by a sprinkler that sprayed onto the road. That was an odd thing to see, so I did a reality check. I was actually laughing about it the rest of the way home, it was so odd.


Do what RONSTEK suggests. It's a great suggestion, and as I said (I believe) I'm out of practice.

Ok ill try the teeth one every half and hour

The Door one would be effective -- i mean, you're bound to come across a door in your dreams. Unfortunately, i tried it, and the same thing happened every time: i'd go through a door, 5 minutes later be like "oh, crap!" and then do an RC, or just forget to do it. Doors are so common you don't even think about it.
