No, a younger person definately has no disadvantage over an older person.
To stop yourself from waking up will take practice. Don't try to do any tricks the first few times you become lucid, and don't try to do anything atall untill you are sure you're grounded into the dream. If at any point the dream starts fading, stop whatever you are doing and stare at your hands, untill you're sure everything is stable again.
Consciousness: that annoying time between naps.

It may have some biological influence. For example, puberty may have an effect on your attention span and content of your dreams. Otherwise, I would say you are perfectly able. Considering your interest, as long as you stay focused and interested, everything will be fine. Just be patient and work on dream recall and reality checks.

Yeah, but I do not imagine that the dreams will frequently be about flying and profound philosophical content...

Further, puberty will affect the ability to focus on content, especially for males.

... but would be easy to concentrate on number 2 most common topic for lucid dreaming (assuming number 1 is flying)
