A WILD is basically "staying aware of yourself and your thoughts while falling into REM sleep" * . So you're not emptying your mind as you drift off, but rather focusing on images, or a single image in your mind as you fall asleep. So then the idea is "going from being awake to a dream without losing concentration." * Works best to lie on your back as you do this, at least for most.
