How to keep certain parts of the dream from slipping away?

Yo, I'm new here, and I just started a dream journal about 3 weeks ago. I've started to remember the dreams better, but sometimes when I wake up, I'll only be able to hold on to a certain part of my dream for a few seconds before I forget it. How can I fix this?

I'm not sure, but I'd like to know the answer too, because the same thing happens to me.

the bigest thing i found is DONT MOVE. the position you wake up in is the position you dreamed in and moving can someitmes delete things from your mind. before you write it down quicly go over the dream in your head and get all the detals you rember straight

iv found this works for me but idk bout any 1 else

Whenever I try, I don't normally have too much trouble remembering. It's when I don't try when it's hard.

The last part of your dream, right before you wake up, is normally the easiest to remember. Get that part into your head and think really hard on what happened before that point. If you don't move, you can normally figure it out and it will come back to you. Then, RIGHT IT DOWN. It doesn't matter if you get them in the correct order the first time you right it down, just put the points on paper and then you can organize it later.

This happens to me too, it's really frustrating because I usually just want to go back to sleep and try to dream again. But yeah, I usually remember the end of the dream but not much before that. One thing that is good though is coming on this site! You might read something that reminds you of something that happened that you forgot. It already happened to me tonight, I remembered two things by people writing about things similar!

Staying still when I wake up doesn't work for me I've tried it before, and I just have to write it down immediately or I usually forget it. And even after I write it down sometimes I re-read it and I'm like, WTF? because I don't remember it and can't picture it.

Cool people. Thats the right question for recall forum. Trully. Remembering dreams is little unpredictable. But the more you try, the better the results be. I found out, that you shouldnt stress yourself about not having good recall. if you feel good and if you dedicate some time for it... It will come as if from itself. The recall is like a gift for you so grow it and dont feel dissapointed when it vanishes for a while. It will return. Just keep smiling about it.
