      Is this lucid dreaming?

My friend recently said that he had heard about something called "lucid dreaming" and that, in short, would allow you to controll your dreams, to me this was nothing new, I thought everyone could do that.

A couple of times a month when I wake up and decide to sleep some more I go back to dreaming but I'm still aware that I am dreaming. I can controll some things that are happening. This morning for example I dreamt that I was walking around in some town(wich was pretty abscure, buildings looking sort of cartoonish) And as I was walking down the street I could decide what stores I wanted to further explore. I didn't make up the stores myself, but I decided which ones I wanted to enter.

Usually when dreaming like this I'm just a sort of spectator, I don't feel like I am "me" but I can somewhat decide what I want to do, but not fully. It feels as if I'm watching myself do these things. Depending on how emmersed I am I can also change the 'scene'. And decide to be somewhere else doing something else.

So, is this lucid dreaming? Or just regular old dreaming ?

Lucid Dreaming is not having control over your dreams (though that is often the case during one), but rather realising your dreaming. If you realise you're dreaming during those dreams, then yes you are lucid dreaming.

ok, so I can then conclude that it is lucid dreaming . Cause the things I dream is stuff I would never be able to think of while awake. And it feels so much more real than just 'imagining' or however one would put it.

Are there a lot of people who do this naturally? Or do most people have to train to achieve lucid dreaming?

Some people can do it naturally, it's not like it's super rare. But most people would have to train it.
