      Hello all

I just discovered this site the other day after I was searching more about the movie Waking Life. What a great movie, if you have not seen it I would highly recommend it, especially with your obvious interest in dreams.

Anyhow, I am looking for some advice on lucid dreaming... I have only had one lucid dream (that I can remember I suppose) and it was very short and I was young, maybe 12. At the time I didn't realize what it was but I was basically in a horrible nightmare that seemed to drag on and I kept waking up and falling back asleep and the dream would just continue from where it left off. Finally it just hit me that I didn't have to be there and I began screaming "WAKE UP!!" And to my surprise, I did!

I have always been able to remember my dreams quite well my entire life, almost every night actually. As I read on this site, I am very lucky to have that ability and I am grateful for it because it says that is the first step to lucid dreaming.

So now what? Last night I tried going to sleep thinking about nothing except the fact that I was going to have a dream and recognize dream signs and realize I was dreaming. I kept repeating that thought in my head but when I woke up several times in the night all I had dreamt about was talking about dreaming vs. actually realizing I was dreaming. I understand that this is a skill you must practice on, but since I just created this account I figured I would say hello and see if anyone has some good advice for a beginner who is open and willing to discover the endless opportunities of the dream world!

      Thank you and sweet dreams

Yeah, check out the stuff clarity said, but basically... heres a few things to start doing.

Keep a dream journal. A simple notebook and a pen by your bedside will work, or if you can remmeber you dreams, start one on here. Theres a section dedicated to people's dream journals.

Start doing things called "reality checks". These things are certain tasks or observations that work in real life, but do not work in dream life. A simple one to start doing is looking at a clock, looking away, and looking back. In real life, the time will obviously stay the same. In the dream world, it will change everytime you look back and look away. The same goes for text, and other reading material. By developing this habit in real life, your habit will also appear in the dream world, so if you just happen to do a reality check in the dream world, you'll realize your dreaming! wala!

      Have fun!
You do this every fucking time.
      No sweat.
      No tears.
      No guilt.
You do this every fucking time.
