      Lightbulb New

      Hello everyone!

Im new to all this lucid dreaming stuff. A few nights ago i had a pretty bad experience with sleep paralysis (my first time ever) which sparked my interest in dreams. After finding this site, reading the guide, and trolling the forums i decided that it would be cool to try all this stuff out and take control of my dreams

Last night was my first night and it was pretty weird. Before i fell asleep i looked at the clock and it was 11:56. I dozed off no more than 30 secs after looking at it, and then woke up to and extreme flinch from a very wierd dream at 11:59. i wasnt fully asleep but had that fast dream. And then again about 10 mins later dozed off again and woke again hearing a gunshot in the short dream . When i awoke it sounded like it was almost outside my dream and very close. I went in the house and sure enough there was no gunshot.

I awoke several more times threw the night right after dreams! But when i woke up the rest of the times i just couldnt remember the dreams. Im usually a heavy sleeper and hardly ever wake up in the middle of the night so i know i was waking myself up in my head after the dream to write it in my dream journal, but couldnt recall what happened.

Well that was a long enough opening and just wanted to share my first night of what i call progress . I look forward in sharing my experiences with you guys. Later

Glad you made it here and hopefully you can realize SP isn't all too bad after all.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

The "short dreams" were probably hypnogogic hallucinations, which are hallucinations that happen during sleep paralysis. These can be imagined sights or sounds, or both at the same time. You commented that it sounded like it was outside your dream, which makes sense because you probably weren't dreaming - you were hallucinating.

It's definitely progress - have you tried WILDing yet? It's a technique involving sleep paralysis - if you get into SP easily you should try WILD.

You may want to start a Dream Journal here at Dreamviews, if you want to share your experiences while improving your dream recall.

Hey, Desa. Welcome to Dream Views.

Yeah, I would definitely recommend keeping a journal. It will most likely be your most important tool, in trying to learn to both recognize and control your dreams. If you have any questions while you're here, don't hesitate to ask around.

      Enjoy your stay!
