      Hello

Hello everyone. Like you, I am interested in obtaining lucidity in my dreams.
This is a very interesting topic in general, and I would like to achieve this in the near future.
I remember when I was younger, I would say in my teens, I did obtain lucidity once. I remember dreaming that I was at my grandmother's old place, and I was in a room with a bunch of Zombies. Obviously, who wouldn't be frightened by something like that. So, you have a natural reaction to want to wake up. Well, I realized somehow in my dreams that I was actually dreaming, and I was trying to make myself wake up. So, I get against the wall, and start to attempt to FALL over, because normally when you fall, you wake up. Oddly, this didn't work. So, I proceeded to realize that I couldn't wake up, and therefore I started talking to the zombies, and trying to be on their side. Basically manipulating my dream world slightly, by talking. This actually worked. Anyway, that's really the only lucid I remember having. So, feel free to share your thoughts on that.

I've been reading the forums a lot, and attempting to regain this lucidity. I've been keeping a dream log, lately. Surprisingly, I can recall most of my dreams in great detail, but I am having trouble realizing that I am dreaming. I've been doing reality checks during the day, and telling myself that I will lucid before bed, but it's not working. If you have any advice in helping me obtaining lucidity, I would greatly appreciate it beyond belief. Thanks for having me in this community!

Hey Wattage, and welcome to Dreamviews.

One thing I do is do a reality check whenever I see a dreamsign in real life. For example, say that...glasses of milk is a dream sign, whenever I see a glass of milk, I'll do a reality check. I find that works better for me than randomly doing reality checks throughout the day. For me, they have to be provoked.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any of the Dream Guides here, we're a friendly bunch here. : D

Get in the habit of doing a reality check whenever you utter "That's weird" or something like that. I'm a minority, but I prefer the memory reality check. Try and remember how you got some place, if you can't then you're dreaming.

      Welcome to the forum!

As others have said, reality checks will definitely help you. A dream journal will also help a lot, both with recall and lucidity. Just reading over your dream journal every once in a while will help you recognize what your dreams are like, so that you're more likely to realize that you're dreaming.

There are a wealth of other techniques in the Tutorials forum, which Clairity already linked to.
