      Smile A Couple Questions

Hey. I'm new here and I am just starting out on the road to lucid dreaming but had a few questions.

First, if I have a decently loud fan going in my room constantly will that have negative effect on my dreams, dream recall, or lucid dreams?

Second, I was wondering, when I am doing reality checks throughout the day, should I only do them when something strange happens or just whenever I think of doing them.

Last Question. Easiest beginner technique? DILD? MILD? And how long did it take you guys to have your first lucid dream?

Thanks a lot and I hope to hear back from you!

Welcome to Dreamviews!! In answer to your questions...

      1. Depends on you, you'll probably hjave to try it out. I don't think it'd bother me personally, but it might for you depending on how you sleep.

      2. It's recommended that you do them when you see something strange. But others will also just tell you it's good to do the often. I rarely see anything I would consider 'strange', so I just do them regularly instead.

      3. Easiest technique also depends on the person. I DILD, but that's only cause I find it easiest. I hear after a bitof practice WILD is good as well as reliable. It took me about 2 weeks of constantly telling myself to remember my dreams and then recording them to have my first LD. But I was desperate for one that night

      Good luck!

Oh, and make sure you keep a Dream Journal! Very Important!

in your dreams you are STUPID remember that. Nothing seems odd in dreams. But, in retrospect you look back and say wow that was retarded. You will catch this later or maybe on your own. but, stupidity is common while sleeping.
So in other words do reality checks often and no matter when it is. Whenever you remember to do them really.

I think a fan with a decent noise will at the very least help you sleep. I find it drowns out other noise that would otherwise wake you up or prevent you from falling asleep.

I'd say both. If you can remember to randomly do them throughout the day, that's pretty good. But doing them when strange things happen is probably better. There's just not usually enough strangeness in a day.
