      Screeching noise in my sleep?

A couple of nights ago I awoke to the noise of a loud high pitched screech. Thats all I have for details really, just a screech. It kind of sounded like a power drill drilling in a screw too far into the wood where it just spins and screeches. For the past week my dad has been using a drill to put up a wall in the room next to me, but I know for damn sure he wasn't drilling anything at 4 A.M.

Anyone know what this could be/mean?

Indeed, you may have been in the hypnopompic state - going from dreaming to waking. It's sleep paralysis, where you can hallucinate - loud screeches could be heard here.

It's just weird audio from SP. Nothing to be afraid of, just your body going to sleep while your mind is conscious causing this weird reaction.

I constantly hear screeches or high pierceing noises at night that wakes me. Often it is right when I am falling asleep. Sometimes it'll be like a loud bang or a gun shot. I jolt awake and even though the noise is still ringing in my ears I know it was never there to begin with. Happens to my bf too sometimes. Sorry don't know what it is or anything, just wanted to let you know you're not alone.

I had this kind of experience. And I pretty like it. Well of course it scares me a lot, but it is a sign, that the brain starts to understand, that i really want to WILD.

Alright, thanks guys. Some guy in the chat said "Stay away from power tools for the rest of your life, they could be your doom. Whatever you do, DON'T SLEEP or they will kill you."

Kinda scared me shitless but oh well. Atleast I'm not alone.

Your experience reminds me of one of my one. It was probably about 2 years ago, and I was semi-sleeping, more unconscious than conscious when suddenly a very loud bang blew right into my face. It gave me a huge startle that I just had to verify the condition of the household. Everything was fine.

The next day I found out my neighbour's car was broken into through the window.

Wow lol, sounds cool but unfortunate for your neighbor.

The volume of the sound just meant that your senses (hearing mostly) were so focused and uninterrupted that they could hear every quiet noise?
