      Having bad trouble sleeping...

      Trouble falling asleep…

      (I am a new LD’er)

I cannot fall asleep regularly anymore, for the 3rd night in a row. This is seriously starting to affect my day as I do not get enough sleep. Instead of listing problems, I will give you what happened for all three nights then you decide:

Night 1: Thought I was having SP doing MILD and freaked out, more on this in the post “Important Questions, please help…” (Warning: Long Post) this is probably where it all started. It was more the fact that I shouldn’t be getting SP than that I actually “did” (although if you read the post it was circumstantial noises) However, some people have suggested I did in fact pass into SP. Anyway, I could barely sleep for the rest of the night, every time I felt sleep start to “wash” over me, I woke up, heart pounding. I gave up on Ld but I could still get no rest.

Night 2: Psyched about doing FILD all day, but come night I would not fall asleep in the first place. When I did, after much music, podcasts and self-talk, I woke up from my WBTB alarm. Then it kicked in. Why doesn’t FILD cause SP? Why should I take a chance? I was tired and worried, so I tried to fall asleep, and after 3 hours I did.

Night 3: This was the night I got the least sleep. Strange, I was a lot more confident in myself than previous nights, but the combination of LD excitement and the still lurking fear produced the same effect. I was awake for about 2-3 hours before I fell asleep. I woke up (presumably from a dream, but I don’t recall) and started shaking uncontrollably. (Not from fear, just general excitement) Anyway, I started hearing things, voices, “cracks” in the wall, footsteps… (I don’t know why I freak out at night, during the day I would kick any malevolent beings ass) This was before my WBTB alarm sounded. When I finally calmed down enough to try and get to sleep, the Sandman would bide his time at a whopping 4 hours before I could get to sleep again. During this time, as Night 1, every time I felt sleep washing over me, I would hear really weird noises, or twitch, or just in general excite myself awake. I gave up on Ld and tried to go to bed long before… (Still trying FILD, I think it’s the ticket) So, staying up for 7 long hours and trying to relax, not to look over my shoulder every time I hear breathing, etc. was exhausting.

Notes: On Night 3, I was very confident in myself and at ease when I first went to bed, I learned to trust my subconscious and it apparently trusted me back… (Note that I am pretty scientific when it comes to things like dreaming, but I know my subconscious is the important part of LD and normal mental health)

Also, if you think I am having SP and am just jerking myself out of it, please let me know… It never came naturally.

      All help appreciated!

PS: During all "SP" even the shaking, I had full body control. I never heard any excessively weird noises or violent vibration.,,
