Thread: i can't stop dreaming cinematic cliches

First of all, welcome to Dream Views!

I have a lot of dreams like that as well, though I enjoy them. If you want to stop having them, maybe you should try to find the cause. Do you watch a lot of movies that involve these things?

not especially, no....


although they are not all that unpleasant/ unenjoyable... i am still frustrated at myself for what i see as a lazy tendency in my imagination

although... strangely enough, it can be the recognition of these cinematic cliches which trigger off a lucid realisation


the next step for me would be to conjur up licid scenarios which themselves are also not cinematic/fantasy cliches.... or at least more complicated ones

That's great Sounds like you found a good dream sign. Flow with it, allow yourself to become lucid, then practice maintaining lucidity and control.

And then record it in you dream journal. Are you currently keeping a dream journal? If not, feel free to utilize DV's Dream Journal section if you'd like

Burns is correct, you're very lucky that your dream sign is so out of the ordinary and therefore easily recognizable as being in a dream (my dreamsigns are my family and my dogs and they never trigger a lucid realization).

En forward, I dream in cliches a lot too, and whatever movie I happened to watch last gets in there way too often.

However, there are enough significant, meaningful, original dreams to make it worthwhile. If you are like me, the dumb stuff will never go away, but there will always be the amazing moments as well.

Flying is a cliche, but it makes it all worthwhile.
