What sort of "stuff"? Be more specific. Drugs? if so what kind of drugs?

Possibly, if it doesn't suppress REM and make you sleep too deeply.

In my experience sleeping pills tend to make lucidity much more difficult.

Actually, personally, the one time that I took melatonin, I had a lucid dream.

For me, everytime I took melatonin I didn't recall any dreams so I guess melatonin destroys my recall.

Hard question...If you mean "stuff" like hash and weed; forget dream recall. I cannot remember a single dream and have like a complete blackout till next morning.

Melatonin makes me sleep much better, but my dreams are less vivid. I do remember more of them though. However; when I take more melatonin, recall gets worse.
I have read people on this site taking 3 mg of melatoning, but personally if I have more than 0.7 mg, my dream recall is gone. I take about 0.5 and then it's great.

I don't think it would, it would probably make it worse. You would probably be too deep in the dream to become conscious.
