Hello, I'm a beginning LDer and I've been having some troubles. Ever since seeing the film Waking Life I've been obsessed with this dreaming technique. I found some information online as well as started reading Stephen LaBerge's book on LDing. Unfortunately, I've found that I'm not too great at remembering and recording my dreams after I wake up. I have a really nasty shift at my work from 7AM to 10, 3 days of the week, so whenever I wake up those mornings my mind is only focused on going back to sleep and never relaxed enough to go over the night's dreams. The days I don't have work in the morning I will sometimes awaken and remember my dreams, but I feel too tired too jump out of bed and start writing in my journal and soon the image fades. I'm hoping this community will provide me with some helpful information as well as keeping me focused on my goal of controlling my dreams. Can't wait to meet all you fellow dreamers. |

Thanks for all the welcomes and advice! I didn't have work today so I was able to lay in bed and go over my dream. Also, I started an online dream journal because, like twoshadow's suggested, I believe it will give me more motivation and feedback from this communtiy. I will definitely try your suggestions of just writing down a few keywords next time I'm struggling between dream recall and sleep. |

IcarusFlewTooHigh, as far as jumping out of bed and writing in your journal, you may wish to do what I do. I keep a small memo pad open with a pen clipped to the spiral next to my pillow. When I wake up from a dream, I don't turn on the lights, nor open my eyes.. I just reach for the pad and start writing. I write alot or a little (i.e., just enough to jog my memory). |
