      A Few Questions

      Hey guys

Sorry to ask yet again more questions but I have a few things I needed to know....

      First of all....

When I'm lying their still, relaxing and waiting to start feeling weird sensations, I often feel my throat drying out after a while of lying their and if I dont swallow then I wiont be able to stay still. So If I swallow my saliva will this stop my chances of a lucid dream?

Also, I have read about this Dream Journal idea where you recall your dreams, but I didnt know if it was 100% neccessary if I wanted to have a lucid dream? Could someone please explain.

And finally, Im curious to hear your routine when you are attempting a lucid dream?

      Mine is:

      1. Lie down and get comfortable
      2. stay still and dont move at all
      3. Take my mind off things while remaining still
      4. Start to feel weird sensations through my body

But thats as far as I have ever got, does it sound like I am doing something wrong?

      Many thanks guys

There is a few different methods to becoming Lucid. The one your using sounds like your attempting the WILD technique. If your throat gets dry, its ok to swallow. In fact, if you read this thread here: The Real (easy) Way to WILD , it explains a nice easy method for doing your technique. The way its explained is to basically try to fall asleep like normal, except try to keep your mind occupied so that your mind doesn't fall asleep.

The Dream Journal idea, is to help your mind get focused on remembering dreams. The more Dreams you remember, the more chances you have to become lucid. Plus, if you do become lucid, but don't remember your dreams, that wouldn't be very fun would it?

Anyway, another advantage to Dream Journals is, it can help you find common dream signs, things that appear in alot of your dreams that you can use to recognize your dreaming.

Thanks dude its a big help

How long do lucid dreams usually last for then? And when I finally LD will it just be like the dreams I have sometimes had where I remember the whole lot of the dream? Or so much more than that?

Lucid Dreams last as long as your REM Sleep Stage lasts, which can be anywhere from 10 minutes, to over an hour and a half. However, when you do become lucid, the first few times anyway, you might end up waking yourself up. Its a common thing that happens to people when they first become lucid because they get excited, and the excitement wakes them up. I would look into Dream Stabilization techniques so that when you do become lucid, you can hang onto them.

With Lucid Dreams, I find I remember much much more than regular dreams. I think it has to do with you already being conscious in the dream, and so the memories aren't stored in your sub-conscious where they are harder to reach, but rather in your conscious memory where you can more easily access them.

There is no definite answer to either of those questions though, and so your experiences may vary with whats been said here.

this is how my experiances were last night:

      1. I put the TV on, like I would If I was actually going to sleep, and layed their still with my eyes shut.
      2. I decided to basically just take my mind of things and act is I would if I were trying to nod off to sleep; I just kept my ears open listening to the TV to keep my mind awake.
      3. Before I knew it, I started feeling a bit like my legs were walking in mid air, then I got a heatwave and felt like I was vibrating. This sadly only lasted about 2 minutes and once the effects had gone I thought to myself 'ahh well its over now I'll just get up', so when i got up my body felt this rush as if it had only just woken up. Tonight Im going to stay still for as long as possible, even if the effects do go.

Am i getting closer to a LD?
      thanks
