      First Time Losing Control

Hi all love this forum since yesterday
Anyway, I very recently learned about LDing and it sounds so cool I decided to check around the net and this place in an excellent source of info.

After reading up on some techniques I tried doing a WILD last night, I now realize this was silly because I had to wait for the REM stage. Anyway, I think I achieve lucidity very briefly because I started hearing weird noises and I felt like I was moving. At this point I was like, "Yes I think its working!" And then all I remember is walking up at about 4 and going, "Damn must have lost concentration." Good practice though I guess.

Then since it was still dark, I decide to try again and the same symptoms occured again, much faster and I was staying conscious but then a car drove passed my window after about 10 seconds of feeling funny. My train of thought went, "Excellent its working again I think. What is that sound? Oh its a car. Oh damn lucidity feeling is gone."

Soooo, was wondering if some pros could pock holes in what I did (best way to learn) and if anyone has some good tips that might help me maintain my concentration.

I think my main problem is I can concentrate since I've never done it before and don't really know what to look for in my dream/mentally concentrate on.

      Cheers

Hello and welcome to Dream Views.

The sensations you experience indeed do sound as if you were well on your way to lucid dreaming. But as you already know, it's difficult to WILD before core sleep.

You seem to be on the right path with the concentration so I think it'd be good for you to try the Wake Back to Bed method (in the Tutorials section). A lot of people have success with this when first starting out. It'll take some trial and error to figure out how long to stay up before going back to bed but once you figure that out the lucid dreams will start coming.

Well, continuing from my previous efforts, I again attempted a WILD last night but I was really figity and could quite get there. Fed up I went to sleep as normal but then woke at about 4am for no apparent reason (still don't know why).
At this point I thought, "Hey now would be much better for trying a WILD." So off I went again but still couldn't manage to even vibrate at all. So again I went to sleep as normal fed up.

This is where it got interesting. Dozing of for about 2 minutes I must have fallen into a dream (have no clue what about), all I remember of it was going, "What that's not right, I just went to sleep. Oh I'm in a dream, sweet lucidity has arrived." At this point my dream fell away and all went black but I was still confident I was in lucidity so I thought. "Need a location. My room!" and there it was, realest dream experience ever, and I got up out of bed.
Then I thought, wait, this could be real. I need a reality check. So I looked at the digital section of my watch which I never even wear to bed (first clue) and then the time was 9 something. Looked again and all the digits moved up a place and there were three numbers in the second area, so I was sure I was in a dream. (Go digital watch).

Then proceeded to check out my house, no one but me around, so I thought, "This will get boring without someone else," So I walked into the next room and 'knew' there would be a door there which I promptly opened and my best friend stepped through.

After explaining to him that this was a dream we both concluded it was quite cool and moved on through the house to a locked door (I never have locked doors). This was odd but I thought, "All I need is a key," and cupped my hands pulling out a key with openned the door nicely.

By this point I wanted to really test out my lucidity powers and told my friend (whom would now be a DC?) to throw me out of the window (conveniently open I might add). I didn't hit the ground, nore did I fly high. I just sort of hovered around my lawn briefly and that is all I remember.

In conclusion I think I know how to summon or create things, successfully do a reality check and I can half assed fly!

Phew longest post I ever made, but I'm still so pumped up.
      Comments please

      Cheers
