      clocks and falling

I've just started keeping a dream journal. I'm sort of surprised...I've been able to write down 3 or more dreams a night.

I've been reading about using clocks/watches to help you realize you're dreaming. In my last dream I looked at a clock and saw one time then looked at a digital clock that said it was an hour earlier, and another clock said a completely different time. In the dream I just though two of the clocks were just set to the wrong time. How do you realize it's a dream?

Also, some times right before I fall to sleep when I'm sort of semiconscious I'll get a very strong feeling that I'm falling and I sort of jerk and wake up. Does this happen to anyone?

      Welcome to dreamviews!
I'm not sure how to get to the point of realizing it is a dream, usually I think like this: Wait, how could this happen? This is impossible. Oh. I must be dreaming!
Yes, I feel like falling right before falling asleep. I also feel like I am being pulled into a dream sometimes.
      Good luck on getting LDs!

The falling thing happens to me too.

Personally, I've found the "clocks don't work in dreams" thing to be a myth. I see clocks in my dreams all the time that are in perfect working order.

As far as realizing whether or not it's a dream, my favorite reality check is to look at my hand and count my fingers. Hope this helps!

well, I heard that clock shows you numbers that will not occur in reality, such as 7:67am, 465:767, 67:3, etc. all kind of funny numbers =)

haha I felt that lots of time, especially when I sleep in class, its as if you're falling( but I didn't dream that I'm falling though ), I felt as if I'm falling and then I woke up. Not naturally like wake up but more like someone( in my case, some force) shake me and woke me up.

      Edit : don't worry you're not alone

If this RC doesn't work for you, don't use it. But don't be telling other people it doesn't work, since if they think it does it is much more likely to work.

Now, I think the problem with both of you guys' RC's is that you only look at each clock once. Look at a clock, preferably digital, then look away for a while. Then, when you look again, the clock will (probibly) say something way different.

But the clock thing doesn't work. Why shouldn't I share this knowledge with others? He could miss out on a lot of lucid dreams if he looks at a clock, sees it working, and assumes he's awake.

      Welcome to Dreamviews, Diroota.

Any time you do a reality check, you should be really questioning your state. Don't ever assume that you are awake. I hate getting fooled. It sucks to get so close and then let the chance to be lucid slip away.

Normally, by the time I think to do a reality check, I already know its a dream. But sometimes its way too real and even after I do a reality check, I'm still not convinced.

Try to combine whatever reality check you like with a memory check. Think to yourself, "How did I get here? Does this make sense? What was I just doing?"

I don't know anything about LDing, but on the subject of falling, you might want to read this article or do a little search on "hypnic jerk".

      About falling.

I haven't been around long (this is my first post) but I did read almost all of the main tutorial (skimmed a little bit on the last few pages, since I'm already somewhat familiar with the idea of Lucid Dreams).
But as a child, I VERY often had dreams where I was falling.

When I was older (I think) I finally figured out why that may be.
When I went to sleep, I usually had my face very close to an airconditioner vent, thus creating the illusion of wind.

When you fall, are you feelling wind, or is your sense of movement (which is controlled by the liquid in your inner ear)?

yes i fall alot and then wake up the clock thing as far as i understand when you are in your dream state your mind can't sustain one image for too long and it keeps changing! it is like an indicator to me that am sleeping

You have to condition yourself to ask yourself if it's a dream every time something weird happens to you.

and that requires practice beyond imagination xD haha. I just can't seem to discipline myself to do so..sigh. I love the reality check where you can just clip your nose and close your mouth and see if you're still breathing

      thats an awesome reality check!!

Falling is an issue? I thought it is normal..I mean, it is just a normal dream right? well, whenever i wake up, feeling like i just fell down from heaven, things just don't seem right, I don't remember dreaming =/ so I'm kinda blur here whether it is a dream or is it something else?
